At this miserable time in this shambles of a country, Lynch's simple line bears repeating.
I moved away from New Orleans ~2 months ago for the PNW, and goddamn do I not miss this aspect of summer. 85°F/29.4°C tap water.

If you are in any way making an effort to fight back against the heightened lack of kindness and empathy we are experiencing, no matter how small, I love you and you are my hero. Kindness fills chasms.
A white supremecist has higher order epistemological issues that make everything else they think suspect. They aren’t wrong on one minor issue, they fundamentally misunderstand people and society how they interact.
There's still time to get your legs ready for Gen Con. Go for a 15 minute walk each day this week, and add a little more each day.
Large Language Models Are Not Search Engines!!!!!!!!
Hi, this is Holden emerging from my Bluesky hiatus to tell everyone that when checking the links in the piece, I used ChatGPT as my search engine (does anyone use Google anymore?). The piece was written by me and edited by humans. So all the links were checked by me and again by our copyeditors.

Every UBI pilot, every single one, has led to the conclusion of "giving people money helps them a lot." Just like other actual first-world countries giving unhoused people housing damn near eliminates homelessness. But the best nat'l elected pragmatic ones will do is harp on affordability & access.

TL;DR Open IG, tap your profile, and then tap the three lines in the top-right corner. Scroll down to the Sharing and reuse tab. Here is where you should see a section labeled Allow people to use your content on Instagram and with AI features on Meta, with a toggle for Posts and one for Reels.

You can now order print on demand physical copies of my cyberpunk Panic Engine ttrpg **Bite the Hand** in (nearly) every country! Details on our website. For US folks, I still recommend Tabletop Bookshelf, it's faster and you also get the PDF. www.spellbookgaming.com/bite-the-hand
“As part of this update, public Instagram profiles are now automatically opted into being fodder for generative AI remixes. All someone has to do is tag your account’s profile in a prompt—if it’s public—and they can use Meta AI to generate an image using your likeness.”

Sometimes you do things because they are what is "normal" You should always be asking "why is this the norm?" In my experience there are: lots of good reasons for norms. lots of dumb reasons form norms. lots of bad reasons for norms that we should actively be fighting. I just wanna know which.
Picking the right door as a young Black person can be a matter of life or death. A lower-stakes example: I tell people who are nervous about canvassing their neighborhood to start with the people who have signs indicating similar values. Gestures matter if they help us find each other.
Obviously this is a dipshit opinion. But since I sometimes see people on the left rolling their eyes about those signs, I just want you all to know that the other night some lost Black teens came to our house after taking the wrong bus and we were able to get them home. Why’d they pick us? Signs.
Yes. You rarely get to change the world overnight. It's rarely a good idea, even if you did. You change it in degrees and bring people around to your way of thinking. Then you remind people all along who did it, and what more can be done. That's politics.
My not-so-hot take is that what Mamdani is doing *IS* incrementalism, and the bar is so deeply in hell that a politician just doing *anything* good consistently is a total anomaly for people. And I think for now that is good and fine, because it is restoring people’s faith that better is possible.
Uline is absolutely evil and you need to not be using them for anything no excuse refuseuline.com

"There's going to be a war": Centrist House Democrats plot Mamdani Caucus counterattack
Honestly, this is really begging for some kind of online quiz that forces people to confront that all the shit they are afraid of is stuff that we did in the 30s and then lost in the Reagan administration.
Thirteen Democratic House members and candidates announced their support for a centrist initiative aimed at pushing back against the party’s tilt toward democratic socialism.
