Politico wrote up Zohran playing basketball with the uncovering-a-big-scandal tone the same day the NYTimes wrote up "credible allegation that The President of the United States raped a woman" as a political strategy story. Broken media in a nutshell

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

ordinarily the government would have to pay Elon to nationalize SpaceX but in the case of capital-T Treason I think an exception can be made

think the thing is that it just can't be like this. of course it isn't like this. and the other thing is: the supreme court will affirm that the president has the power to pardon his own crimes. not, he does not. do not give me a legal argument about this. no sane person would write that law.

I am yet again staking out the position that a pardon issued as part of a corrupt or criminal scheme in which the President is involved or materially benefits from is void ab initio I’ll find some Blackstone or Coke quote supporting this when I need to

like, there was a *weeks long* protest addressed at collins, *specifically about how kavanaugh would vote on abortion*, her saying there was no way to anticipate how he would vote is legitimately a really offensive and bald faced lie!

if you could not have predicted how a lifelong federalist society member and former bush administration staffer would vote on an abortion case before the court, then you genuinely are too incompetent and unqualified to be a senator

Retired guy whose healthcare bill is entirely paid for by working adults talking about how he shouldn’t have to pay for other people’s kids to go to school while standing in front of a mansion he owns is really just an excellent encapsulation of the Republican base.

democrats in Congress really need to start building the case to lock Elon up and be ready to hand it to the next attorney general on January 20th 2029

Based on their public comments, NYT leaders view the kind of insider details discovered by Haberman and others as essential to understanding Trump. I don't think that's correct. Public documents (Project 2025) and events (Jan 6, DOGE) to me describe this presidency better than insider accounts.

"Democracy dies unless Maggie Haberman has access to senior Trump aides and McConnell/Romney Republicans respect us" is essentially the argument Times editors have been making since 2018. I can't tell if they actually believe that or it's a pretext for their decision not to change their approach.

This morning I re-watched my video argument with the NY Times' Patrick Healy, and it's clear that the Times believes if it says explicity that the Trump regime is assaulting democracy, that would undermine its work to investigate how the regime is assaulting democracy. What an absurd position.

The Israeli political consensus is that it is essential for the State of Israel to continue to deny self-government or self-determination to 33% of its population indefinitely, and virtually no mainstream American analysis will even engage with this.

Eisenkot, the most likely alternative to Netanyahu for the next head of government in Israel, says yesterday that "two states for two peoples is a mistake" and that "Ben Gvir probably did some good things in the prisons". He also said he would not coalition with any of the Palestinian parties.

This man started his term by selling control of the federal government to his richest donor. He then spent the remainder of his time wiping his ass with-never mind the constitution--the declaration of independence. There's no such thing as legitimate official acts from him as far as I'm concerned
