I actually had a ton of fun at NNO tonight despite needing to lay in complete silence to recover afterwards.
'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)
I think “I am the protagonist of life” is the main psychological appeal of this kind of conspiracism. You risked nothing, you did nothing, and other real people are suffering the things you’re pretending to think are bad, but in the end you’re the great hero for surviving your imagination.
If 60s / 70s Trekkies hadn't invented slash fiction, 90s Trekkies would have had to, because the canon ships can be abysmal. Bashir and Ezri? Chakotay and Seven? Chakotay and anyone for that matter? GTFO Worf and Troi? Worf and Jadzia? Neelix and Kes!?What the hell are you even doing?
Sure would be a shame if the City had spent decades building its entire economic development policy around Downtown commercial landlords who also happened to be the main political allies of the Mayor who got caught holding the bag when the entire paradigm of work permanently shifted 🫣
More than 100 city employees could be laid off in Minneapolis in the first major layoffs in 16 years as the city faces a $33 million budget gap.
[Homer sits backwards on a chair] let me tell you about ANOTHER giant brute who was being beaten by Nobody
CoreCivic's name used to be Corrections Corporation of America (that means private prisons, which we worked to stop in 2016); and they 'rebranded' in 2016. These fuckers don't belong in Minnesota; and this is some bullshit.
CoreCivic has announced it's been awarded an ICE contract to use the Prairie Correctional Facility in Appleton, Minnesota. The new five-year contract begins on Aug. 11, 2026. ir.corecivic.com/news-release...
MPD (Madison) must have learned this trick from MPD(Minneapolis) Justice for Corey Ruiz. Solidarity with you, Madison.
The city of Madison is clearing the Ruiz memorial site right now with cops. Many unhoused folks are sleeping there right now and at risk for harm. If you are local and can get down there, please do ASAP. Help people clear their stuff out and de-escalate. Document the harm. Whatever you can do.
I think the thing that really breaks my brain in this day and age is watching insurance companies continuously deny payouts in order to boost shareholder value while at the same time witnessing direct pleas from community organizations trying to help people survive disasters

The Amsterdam we see now didn't spawn into existence out of nowhere. It was built over five decades through the fierce advocacy of parents and residents who wanted a brighter future. We aren't Amsterdam, but after a few decades of work we certainly could be a city which has a similar success story!
Naysayers re: biking for transportation in Minneapolis: “This isn’t Amsterdam.” Minneapolis parents: “So what? We’ll make our own version.”
We are in the final days before the August 11 primary election, and our Congressional District 5 candidates need your help! Sign up for a doorknock today to ensure we have high voter turnout across the district from New Brighton and New Hope to Columbia Heights and Minneapolis.
“Assume that is a given fact, okay?” “No.” is an exchange we should all be practicing
obviously it’s delightful watching a woman with both facts and morality on her side hand an increasingly sweaty and desperate male attorney his ass, but honestly this is a Teachable Moment™️ for all of in not granting the bad-faith premise of a question
Tired of participating in the social contract, tired of leaving space for folks to learn and grow, tired of extending compassion, tired of choosing to nurture care instead of sharing grudges, tired of practicing rehabilitative mindset But! Bitch who cares, do it tired
I need y'all to hear my thoughts. Being poor is not a moral failure. Being unemployed in an economy where there are no jobs to be had is not your fault. Being considered a cog in a machine by billionaires instead of real flesh and blood is a problem when they keep telling you "life is precious."
A good commissioner steps in now before every WNBA game becomes a rightwing performance space, like school board meetings were during peak CRT. You just have to throw the hammer down on this. Do not give them an inch.
riley gaines is at the minnesota lynx vs indiana fever game posing with people courtside as they line up for photos
The WNBA has never had a trans woman play in the league’s 30-year history and now the right and other anti-trans activists are hammering the league over something that has never been an issue, proving once again it isn’t about protection but exhibiting cruelty toward trans people.
never thought short form video would be able to capture a type of humor i can only describe as “the far side-esque” but this comes close.
DC and Memphis are both experiencing a National Guard occupation and a Trump "task force" designed to exert dominance and control. Solidarity with Memphis communities, #FreeThe901
The influx of federal agents into the city last fall led to widespread immigration arrests – a majority without criminal convictions. President Trump has said he wants to replicate it elsewhere.
Lots of people replying/quoting this with jokes about dinosaurs/jurassic park/etc and it’s a good time for a favorite fun fact: all birds are literally a branch of theropod dinosaurs that split off from other theropods in the Jurassic period. They look like dinosaurs because they are dinosaurs.
Today I learned that baby cranes are called "colts" because their legs are so long and they can run around like idiots shortly after hatching. This is delightful, I enjoy knowing this.
But the thing is, you don't convince people to try something new by telling them the thing they already love is bad. Tell them why the thing you like is good. Excitement about what we love is joyful, and having fun shows people that a thing is fun.
I’m going to tell y’all’s kids that this is Charlie Brown & Friends.
