Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.

"By pathologizing those we dislike, we give ourselves license to exile them." This is a very good and necessary read, and encapsulates a lot of things I've been thinking about lately.

Yesterday was mainly spent on drawing this from a Procreate tutorial. I've had Procreate on my iPad(s) since ~2010, but am only now getting around to learning it. It's a different set of skills, but I think it'd be nice to be able to offer something beyond traditional watercolors in the shop.

oh come on

8 years ago today, I was in the hospital trying very hard not to die. What followed was 3 incredibly difficult years as I came to terms with and learned to manage my new limitations. I'm so glad that the last 5 years have been relatively stable and I am hopeful that the future will be.
