So disappointed by this. I can't understand where this decision came from - all generative AI is unethical. Full stop. The charter sheds no light on what they believe ethical genAI use is, it's just word salad and extremely tenuous justification. GenAI is theft and riddled with other ethical issues.

I realise it’s been a while since I posted any updates, but it’s because I’ve been busy with an exciting project! Last week my sapphic SF horror novel, DO NO HARM, went out on submission to publishers. I had a lot of fun writing it! To celebrate, here’s some artwork I created for it 🙂

The future is not written, kids. The people telling you you'll be 'left behind' are afraid of losing money. Don't give them that kind of power over you for a technology NOBODY asked for that has stolen ridiculous amounts of art and writing and music and is contributing to the climate catastrophe.

The entire "you can't put it back in the bottle" argument is terrible. Every day, each of us decides whether we use this technology, and if so how.

Everything is bad, but books are good. Get a book. Read the book. Cherish the book. Finish the book. Tell your friends about the book, and leave a review of the book. Hold the book close. Listen to what it tells you. Do as it commands. Place it on the dread altar and let it guide your every choice.

If you’re in the UK and love all thing #SFF i heartily recommend joining the British Science Fiction Association and the British Fantasy Society. Both organisations are inclusive, provide a bunch of support for writers and readers and run great events.

Pressing concerns in the UK today: climate, healthcare, education, economy, AI + digital, mental health need the arts + humanities to understand the issues + find solutions. We need STEM + related disciplines working with arts + humanities - they are critical, ever more so in our technological age.

I was sick of seeing JD Vance's memoir get all of the book coverage. So I asked a bunch of writers I know and love what recent books they think should get more attention. These are books for people who actually like to read. Please check them out! lithub.com/40-great-new...
