Three years ago, the Biden White House attacked me for saying "Democrats should be fighting on every possible front — filing a flurry of lawsuits and exerting public pressure through the media." "The president's team wants to be more selective in picking legal fights." I feel sadly vindicated.

for clarification, i don't mean Joan Cusack as James Bond - i mean Joan Cusack as Debbie Jellinsky as James Bond
for as much as the conversation is always “ugh the left is mad caitlin won’t be an SJW” that really isn’t it at all. the right decided to use her as a cudgel against a sport with a lot of black and queer athletes and the left asked her to say that’s bad.
the clark stuff is odd bc it isn’t really the left who politicized her. it was the right holding her up as an excuse to be racist to angel reese and to “own” the wnba by having a white straight woman come in and be the talk of the town. they’re the ones who made her a culture war pawn.
That seems right. Several organizers in Jackson, MS last night talked about “keep the main thing the main thing”, which means learning how to knock doors, have human conversations, “make people happy you called”, etc.
El-Sayed in particular describes himself as a proud capitalist so yeah it is not just DSA. People with organizing experience - inclusive of but not limited to DSA folks - are the ones who are best prepared to face our fractured media environment b/c they have experience going and finding ppl (1/n)
"It’s not a different opinion. It’s straight up bigotry ... that we wouldn’t accept or hand wave away if it were targeted towards any other group." Every cis person who follows me for WNBA content better read this. Pay for a sub, you owe the trans community that much & Frankie is a hell of a writer
This is rough but I think it talks about a lot of what is missing from the Cunningham/WNBA discourse. Namely, that trans people are not hypothetical thought experiments. They are real people who are being genocided by our government & any coverage that doesn't center that reality misses the mark.
I have many a nuanced thought (and plenty of dumb, simple ones!) on the current state of dem politics, but one thing I will note is that when DSA candidates are ousting sitting dem members of congress in MICHIGAN, the “won’t work outside NYC and California” claim gets less and less salient.
Kansas and Missouri BOTH say fuck the fascists, get bent assholes
Doc came back from vacation, and I finally got my T rx filled after weeks without (had to pay out of pocket but I can’t wait any longer). About to become Kool Aid man and punch through walls.

Does everyone here know that @craigbrittain.com, who is currently masquerading as an anti-MAGA warrior, was fined in 2016 for operating a revenge porn website? A *lot* of y’all follow him. ⚠️ Marked as unsafe. ⚠️ www.ftc.gov/news-events/...
I keep arguing that Dem leadership (Schumer, Jeffries, etc.) are stuck in the 90s, as are many of the high profile Dem consultants and advisors. They think most voters are de facto moderate. This is why their thinking is outdated:
We find that the benefits of moderation found in earlier eras (~1980s-2000s) are gone. Why? Many likely explanations.
The rewriting of every Democratic Party failure to win an election as the fault of progressives is really something.
Riley Gaines showed up to support the Fever and now the Fever are 5th in the standings. #WNBA
Well you see, Cathy Engelbert is not a good commissioner.
