The post says that at 11:15 p.m. a bill had passed its third and final reading after being debated since noon. She states the government passed it under Budget urgency, meaning there was no select committee process and no official advice. She says the minister could not explain the urgency. Radhakrishnan argues the bill is problematic because it allows the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) to use automated decision-making broadly. She compares it to a similar system used in Australia that had harmful consequences and says a recent Australian Royal Commission recommended stronger safeguards. She criticises the government for not adopting similar protections. The post says the bill will affect people receiving benefits, including disabled people and those with significant health conditions, and argues it will make life harder for people already struggling. She finishes by saying she is proud to be part of the Labour team that scrutinised the bill as best they could.

We got our windows and doors double glazed this week. I'm 41 years old, I've lived in more than 65 houses in my life. This is the first time I've ever lived somewhere with double glazing. What a sad indictment on housing quality here in Aotearoa.

We sat chatting about whether we had enough unemployed people to suppress workers' wages. A few of us thought more misery would be good, but the new boss made the line call... current levels of misery would be OK for a another month or so. It was a great discussion. The vibes were good.

The Post asked MPs about their use of AI and I'm fucking livid. Especially the guy using Grok, a tool that famously allowed users to create nonconsensual sexualised deepfakes. You think the standing orders are "complex" and need a tool made by a neo Nazi to make sense of it? Get a grip. #nzpol

The most popular use case for AI cited bu MPs was "research" which 55% of the individual MPs who used AI cites in some manner. National MP for Ilam and former molecular biologist Hamish Campbell had created his own server where he tan a "number of LLMs" according to a spokesperson. National MP for Bay of Oentlt Tome Rutherford had fed parliament complex standing orders and speakers rulings into Grok.

NZ media are just lapping this up as if it were run-of-the-mill celebrity gossip & Boyd is their kiwi on the inside. Rather than calling out the lack of ethics or basic due diligence by an academic of supposed high standing and instead of exposing the really really bad stuff in the Epstein files…

Since Pinker has been brought to NZ by the FSU, local reporters could ask what the "Great Fun" he was having with Epstein on April 4 2014, as mentioned in an Epstein email to Bill Gates (2014 isn't a "This person and their crimes is a mystery to me" time, as it is many years after the 2007 case)
