Extending this further, it’s also Hegseth intentionally humiliating the military out of resentment at only being an alcoholic National Guard major limited in both intelligence and management skills that couldn’t truly make a career out of the military.

Every subsequent U.S. president who tries to do a modicum of good via foreign policy or trade is going to be sitting across from someone thinking yeah sure, okay, but what about the next guy. Absent political reforms, tribunals and truth and reconciliation, that credibility is gone forever.

Better yet, make it McCain in 2008 and we would have bomb bomb bombed Iran just as the Great Recession was peaking. That would’ve been fun. Real clear difference in competence. Right?
