When you ask voters to approve taxes for public transit, what you mostly get is a map of residential density. Here's the latest from Spokane, WA where the measure narrowly leads at the moment.

No one tells you that street safety activism is largely saying “it’s neat when kids are safer” and being met with an entire leadership class telling you “yeah but have you considered the thorny issues like ‘where will I park my car’ and ‘what if I want to drive fast’ and ‘fuck off loser’”.

the biggest presidential scandal in history. jeffrey epstein was a close friend and business associate of trump and they did crimes together! against children! its all pretty much out in the open now but its a smaller story than hillary's email server was for some reason

BREAKING: The New Mexico Department of Justice has sued Acting AG Todd Blanche and the DOJ, requesting the court for access to unredacted Epstein-related investigative files that the DOJ has been withholding.

I've seen this happen to my generation in Italy. The results? Delayed family formation, folks having fewer kids or no kids, and folks having their first kid later in life (late 30s-early 40s). And it's not just the housing costs. It's the ever-increasing gap between housing costs and earnings

High Housing Costs Are Keeping More Young Adults in Their Parents’ Homes

The share of young adults living with their parents has increased across all metropolitan areas and all income groups, with the highest increases in more una…

Some things I've learned about legislative advocacy, and I think my record speaks for itself. 1. Start by asking for everything you want. Stop preemptively negotiating against yourself. The process of passing the bill will whittle it down. Why started with a whittled down product?

* Workplace standards. Sexual harassment wasn't even a concept in law til the 1970s. The Anita Hill hearings were 1991, just 35 years ago. * Extreme poverty - worldwide, 40% of the world's population was desperately poor in the 1980s. Now less than 10%. Worldwide inequality is narrowing.

In addition to having no experience in immigration, their website shows Ilya Shapiro (!) and disgraced former law prof Joshua Wright (!) as Senior Counsel. I don't think this massive contract was awarded to give immigrant children effective, zealous advocacy. burkegroup.law/our-team/

Got a new paper out today... "Urban areas with lower commute mode share by car and, to a lesser extent, lower VMT are most strongly associated with lower per capita transportation fatality rates." (and it's open access if you are the type of person who wants to read a research paper)

What drives urban transportation safety? Exploring the role of modal composition and travel exposure

Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase likely violated federal anti-money laundering laws by failing to properly screen and report payments from Leon Black to Jeffrey Epstein, and underreporting Epstein’s suspicious activity to the Treasury Department.

One more interesting point: this spring I sat down with Sharyn Alfonsi of 60 Minutes for an extensive interview about my Epstein investigation. Subsequently, CBS pulled the segment and fired the reporter. The MAGA buyout of media has unquestionably aided the Trump administration’s cover up here.

Bombshell new report out from my investigators this morning spanning our four year investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s financial records. This report shows exactly how Wall Street protected Epstein and enabled his sex trafficking for decades. Mega thread following with some key points:

About a month ago, it emerged from upstate New York that DHS was targeting online critics of ICE by trying to force them to sign a heretofore unheard of “Warning Notice” admitting that their criticisms were unlawful. Now the WSJ reports that those cases ... talkingpointsmemo.com/morning-memo...

Banks permitted millions in suspicious transactions tied to Epstein—and former 60 Minutes correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi had the story months ago. But the report would never air. trib.al/ZShZlIS
