My experience as HCA with too many in the media has been disappointing. One texted us questions he wanted us to answer that were framed as what we needed to answer to defend ourselves from allegations from police. Instead we asked to meet and spent almost two hours showing him data, emails, etc..

Today's the day many more Minnesota cities open early voting locations. Also starting today you don't have to fill out an on-site early absentee application - you just vote as you would on Election Day. (Minneapolis's two early locales, the Govt Center & 980 E Hennepin, opened 9/18 and remain open.)
Minnesota, this election is too important to sit back or sit out. With expanded hours, more locations, and opportunities to vote on the weekends, it's never been easier to cast your ballot early. Make your plan at iwillvote.com
There's a lot been made of the idea that Minnesotans care for our neighbors, and Representative Omar has consistently and repeatedly demonstrated that for her, care for her neighbors doesn't stop at the borders of the district she represents. I can think of nothing more Minnesotan than that.
Makes sense, her laptop is probably where she keeps paperwork her father filled out when she was a child
DHS investigators not only took Ilhan’s cell phone, they took her computers, notebooks and her passport! These seem like important details. (You can tell who doesn’t read the full Wall Street Journal article: me.)
You cannot fix a broken system on Election Day.
I did everything I could to keep her off the ballot. It didn’t work. And now I will not stand by while grown-ass adults try to excuse letting a fascist/Trump apologist win by default. YOU CANNOT FIX A BROKEN SYSTEM ON ELECTION DAY. Vote blue and keep on fighting every fucking day.
I don’t want Amy but this woman cannottttttt be governor
WATCH: Lisa Demuth expresses her support for overturning Doe v. Gomez, which protects the right to an abortion in the Minnesota Constitution, saying, “That is also why I am running for governor.”
Council Member Soren Stevenson: Car share is important even if you're not a user, bc when people don't have access to transportation options, they will buy a car. Do you want 5,000 more cars on the road, in your way? Losing car share would have real impact across metro.
Great news! Superintendent Sales-Adams is recommending against school closures at this time. And is moving forward with other elements of the plan to increase enrollment.
Fun fact for you: the longest-running and possibly biggest horror theater festival is right here in the Twin Cities, and it opens for the fifteenth time this Friday!

The DFL trifecta did amazing things and it’s not because Walz was a progressive champion, it’s because he’s a DFLer and he didn’t get in the way. I’m excited to vote for Amy despite her milquetoast politics, because I’m excited to see what another trifecta can do.
She'll also be stuck here with us so let's make sure we have enough people to help push her to make things better.
My favorite thing about this post is that it’s a real thing that happened
JR: On what universe did anyone in your office think that was acceptable? DOJ: Your honor, we did our best -- JR: No, you did not do your best. You did your absolute worst.
If you missed it at Open Streets, don't miss it here: One habit you can form to reduce your risk of bike theft, and one step you can take right now to drastically improve your odds of getting a stolen bike back. Help us spread the word!
I wish I had asked public works about this statistic that 75% of Minneapolis bike thefts are from indoor spaces like bike rooms and garages. I know it's more common than people realize, but 75% is shockingly high.
I’m going to be filling in Omar’s circle with extra vigor this year. South Minneapolis has so many fun options for early vote pop ups—pair voting with a museum visit, delicious food, a visit to the park, or just get somewhere on foot/bus more easily than the normal early vote location.

Folks, I’m starting to think this Justice Department might be politicized
We subsidize private car ownership *so much*, in so many different ways We should subsidize the service that acts as a safety net for households to own fewer cars, too—&, right now, come thru w emergency $ (Want to talk about affordability? Hard to save more in one fell swoop than dropping a car!)
Something I’ve learned in conversations in the last week is that Evie (HourCar, the car share service set to shut down in the Twin Cities w/o emergency $) gives ppl confidence to try going car-free—then they realize they can Why this matters: *Even when Evie isn’t being used* it helps climate goals
Carshare is a critical part of our transportation system. People rely on HOURCAR and Evie. The sudden sunset is devastating. Let decision-makers know you support emergency bridge funding to save carshare. savecarsharemn.org
Keep carshare in our neighborhoods
HOURCAR's last day is October 15. Call and write your city council member, county commissioner, and the governor about keeping carshare running.

Hourcar service has been around for 21 years, but the nonprofit said it could not close a $625,000 funding gap.
It's extremely in front of our faces. "Automation" without human intervention is the gas company phone tree that runs you in circles forever, the broken website for which none of the third part vendors will take responsibility. There's no substitute for human workers, nor for paying them.
AAA's Your Driving Costs 2026 report came out last month. Unsurprisingly, the researchers found that the average cost of owning and operating a new vehicle has shot up—it's now estimated at $12,863/yr or $1,072/mo. newsroom.aaa.com/2026/09/aaa-...

Here is my pitch for anyone who has worries about rail: I think that building out rail is a necessary (but not sufficient) step in transforming American cities from totally car dependent to slightly walkable, in a way that no other form of transit is.
I GOT TO VOTE FOR TRAINS! Fuck yeah Front Range Passenger Rail!
Minnesotans, we need to be having a bigger talk about the state of our nonprofits right now. Rising costs, government cuts, and shifts in corporate and individual philanthropy are all factors that are broadly destabilizing the landscape.

I didn’t do the Twin Cities Bike Tour, but I did take a long (for me) impromptu ride up the Mississippi to Ole Olson Park. My first visit!

The last few weeks have been a blessed relief from Angie Craig texts, but I just got my first fundraising ask from Michele Tafoya (!?!?) She's humbly asking
"In addition, the Target Corporation must stop offering their Bronx properties as private staging sites for ICE, in compliance with requests from New York officials. Target opening up large active retail parking lots for paramilitary activity is unacceptable and places the entire community at risk.”
