This was seen by more people than I expected, and someone is complaining about liberal smug in the twitter QTs so in the interest of fairness I must note that this situation is definitely much more aggravated with self-identified liberals having no clue about liberal political philosophy

It’s past time to BAN CONGRESSIONAL STOCK TRADING!  No member of Congress [or the White House] should be trading stocks. Period. The American people deserve to know their representatives are working for them, not corporations and stock portfolios. It’s time to ban Congressional stock trading.

Bluesky oldheads will remember that brief period of time when the conservative trolls tried to storm the place and were flummoxed by the idea they would have to organically grow an audience and that someone who didn't want to talk to them could nuke every interaction they ever had from orbit

RIGHT: we're poisoning society to death so it can be replaced with one that exists only to enable our violent fantasies LEFT: we must strengthen society by expanding social services and expelling those who seek to kill it CENTER: so... the right gets what? nothing?? come on. let em kill it a little

Also, once you do this once or twice, they will flag you as A Person Who Will Cause Problems On Purpose and be much more liberal about approving your claims -- the last one I fought was a maintenance drug denial and it was 3 weeks and a ton of paperwork last year, 24 hours this year.

To everyone in a similar scenario: the tactic my doctor's office has taught me is to ask, in writing, for: 1) the name, board specialty, and license number of the doctor making the determination the treatment was not medically necessary;

Fundamentally I think he developed a problematic relationship with AI because he was already addicted to the endless cycle of hockey stick growth and it sold him a fantasy that he could keep putting out more without ever getting him to ask if that was actually good.

And I think this detail actually matters because while it's all well and good to just say "if you use AI you are dead to me" I think the ship has sailed for quite a few people and it's better to understand the various ways it's doing harm to better tailor interventions

The perception that urbanism ignores kids is interesting. I kind of see it in transit world? But half of cycling BlueSky is Kidical Mass. @lauragmitchell.com and others. YIMBYs talk a lot about housing prices as a barrier to having kids. Single-stair helps family-sized apartments.

American politics “un-bundles” these two issues in ways that can make it difficult to synthesize them, because of the distrust between left and right, and the mutual suspicion that each cause is a Trojan horse for a more radical cause.

Also we need to win, and given the short time, these candidates should drop out. But the reason the party brand is so bad that “D“ is a killer is because Schumer and Jeffries and other D leaders have not tried to boost the party brand and change public opinion.

also i'm worried that a "pack the court to 13" scenario (which Harris proposed the other day but gives the dems only a one vote majority) winds up with a lot of "Kagan/Sotomayor joins the conservatives in 7-6 ruling that says the DOGE guys can stay in their civil service jobs" or whatever

This is why the number one thing liberal con law people should be working on is arguments that Trump’s pardons are not valid. Obviously none of this can happen without court packing but once the new liberal court is in place, there need to be arguments ready to hand them.
