Also, if you’re rescuing wildlife or humanely relocating an animal, cover up glove up and mask up to avoid picking up a flea! Always best practice to maximize safety if you aren’t a wildlife professional and don’t know exactly what PPE is needed for contact with each species you handle

If you are, as I was, reluctant to read this b/c it's one more apocalyptic-sounding, gross thing, I understand. So just know that there were 7 cases diagnosed, 6 were hospitalized, all recovered, there was a previous 5-person outbreak this year, THEY all recovered, & you should flea-treat your pets!

When I was in school, those showers *existed* but absolutely no one used them, and as far as I can recall no one even got naked in the locker rooms. Younger generations prefer *vastly* more bodily privacy than was expected in the decades before, which I've heard some oldsters get mad about.

So the message of this research out of China, where you were seeing a lot of kids using A.I. to help them, was that when they were using the A.I., they were getting things done faster. But it turned out that the skills they were learning were not holding, that their actual personal performance, at least in the way we traditionally measure it, was degrading. What do you think when you hear that? The last part — I completely agree. Try to get a kid to do long division right now. The multiplication table is starting to be forgotten. Doing square roots, my goodness. Basic math is being forgotten. Does it matter? That’s my question for you. Yeah. I don’t think it does. I don’t think it does. But there must be some set of skills that matter. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. But maybe not those. We’re going to discover new ones. Just maybe not those. There are a lot of skills that don’t matter. My first confession, I actually don’t know my address.

it really needs to be more openly discussed that all the people advocating for “we should be fine with losing basic skills if we get more systems thinking” are men, meaning socialized to expect to be able to offload basic tasks of daily living onto a wife as part of their compensation for existing
