I think it's both true that Israel is a colonial project that continues to engage in colonialism and that Israeli identity is in fact a real thing. The notion that without Israel all the Israelis would embrace their true wholesome identity as Europeans or Arabs or whatever is complete lunacy

i have been thinking about this since i tweeted it and i think some of it has to do w/ppl treating "the internet" in the '00s and '10s as a place ... not where what you said didn't matter, but where norms were different and you could have another personality than you did in "real life"

underrated thing about all these freaks is that they consider it totally normal to have huge temper tantrums in public where you threaten to do stuff and say vile things about people and then you can just pretend it never happened, it's very weird and off putting
