It can't be enough, but we only get through this all by breaking "whoever you vote for, the neoliberal-to-fash pipeline always gets in"

I think people are seeing the mass arrests of people for wearing t-shirts and holding signs in support of Palestine Action and are assuming there's One Weird Trick to force the cops to treat Nazis the same
www.thenational.scot/news/2641894... This is great and all, but the police already ignore it when Nazis turn up with Combat 18 flags and combat 18 has been banned since they went on a bombing spree in Muslim Jewish and Gay areas in London.

The DWP are asking for people to contribute evidence for a forthcoming review of Carers Allowance and how it operates. Admittedly this is niche, but please spread the word so it reaches the right people. www.gov.uk/government/c...

This call for evidence is being administered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to gather information and views to build on the Department’s existing evidence. What we hear will help shape ...

in fact i'd say that those of us who know the consequences acute&chronic illness can have—often due to personal experience—& thus promote use of mitigation tools are the ppl furthest from imagining a world like 2019 again. things have changed; we are both aware of & acting to address our 2026 needs.
But if I wasn’t clear I don’t know anyone who thinks we’re “a few masks & lockdowns away from 2019.” But I know a lot of ppl who understand the horror of Long Covid, the risk of endless repeat infections, & the easily accessed benefits of air quality upgrades in schools, masks in healthcare,
One thing that orgs like Amnesty absolutely rely on when operating in liberal democracies is being able to get good press on whatever they're doing from the likes of the Guardian and NYT and this absolutely isn't available here
Transphohic orgs threatening a human rights org with legal action is a new level of brazen. It's kind of disorienting that it's probably going to work.

This is where fuel subsidies go. When fuel prices are high, even many on the left demand that governments just subsidise more. All this does is outbid poorer countries for a resource they need too, inflate prices further & line companies' pockets. Reducing demand for fossil fuels is the only answer.
oil and gas companies profit off of human suffering and environmental ruin and their executives should all be tried at the hague 🫶
I've confirmed that the UK's new Sovereign AI Fund does no due diligence on whether AI companies use copyrighted work without permission before investing in them. It took me 3 Freedom of Information requests to find this out: 🧵 1/10
Hmm, I wonder why a Labour politician would prevent members of the public from commenting on this on a site with a large trans userbase. Couldn't possibly be because of rampant Labour transphobia...
the theft of the commons in britain through the enclosure acts forcibly privatized shared lands thereby driving peasants out of the countryside (collective farming, hunting, gathering, fishing) and into the cities creating a desperate class of people forced into exploitative wage labor for survival
Positioning these two positions as moral or ideological equivalents is racist as shit.
Wasn't going to bother with this trailer. Did though. WATCH IT!

Are there any organisations like 'Not in our name' led by cis men affirming their trans brothers?
a right to transition and a freedom from sex, as many have written about, means that we have to accept all forms of transition, defend them, and ensure that all modes are available freely for anyone. the woman needing hrt & nonbinary person who cant transition at work share a struggle
not a huge fan of this whole thing of “non-binary people don’t have the same stake in trans rights.” thing going around. kill the Bri Wu in your head please and thank you
The people who rail against people ineffectually if tactlessly saying "ban cars" or "just get a bike" tend to be curiously uninterested in this issue which limits disabled people's mobility and puts them in real danger now.
Councils encourage and normalise pavement parking. This practice needs to be stopped. If there isn't enough road space then there needs to be less parking. Pavements blocked by vehicles are a real problem for disabled. Or does convenient parking trump disabled rights? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
I just saw a meme that said “get in losers, we’re reclaiming the emdash”. People. PEOPLE. Where are your STANDARDS? It CLEARLY should be “get in, losers — we’re reclaiming the em dash.”

Meet the new bastard, same as the old bastard (just pronounce the a differently)
Mahmood remaining as Home Secretary is a clear sign that Burnham is doing a literal "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" thing. Going to continue persecuting immigrants and queer people.
Thinking about the "compression = intelligence" maxim that's been spread with interesting mathematical connections by various computer scientists and how compression is actually about encoding of semantic data not intelligence unless you restrict your definition of intelligence to encoding semantics
In case you missed it over the weekend, JK Rowling-backed Sara Morrison lost her tribunal against the Belfast Film Festival. "The tribunal found that the evidence presented to them did not support Ms Morrison’s claims and dismissed them “in their entirety”."
Under a regime where trans women have been made the sin-eaters for men's violence, where our rights and dignity and healthcare have been stripped from us due to fearmongering about the supposed threat we pose to women, our allies call bog-standard straight men secret gays and trannies. Fuck off.
No fuck off we're not calling this "Millennial grey" this shit was dictated completely by boomer retiree house flippers we absolutely had NO say in this
