New study from our lab at NICHD, NIH! We identify TBC1D9 and TBC1D9B as novel ARL8 effectors that suppress exosome secretion by inactivating RAB11A and thus blocking exocyst-dependent fusion of multivesicular endosomes with the plasma membrane. www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
Die Wissenschaftsfreiheit wird am besten verteidigt, indem man Universitäten nicht zu Tode spart. Nichts höhlt die "Resilienz" der Institution mehr aus, als das katastrophale Kürzungsprogramm, das gerade abläuft.
Save the date! Club Exocytose-Endocytose half-day scientific meeting is planned 📅 1 Dec 2026, 2 pm 📍 Centre Broca Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Bordeaux Neurocampus 🎤 ~8 talks 💻 Hybrid: in person or online Registration & abstract submission open in September. Stay tuned !!
It‘s amazing to see your students spread their wings! I am so sad to see @petia-adarska.bsky.social and @probablycarmen.bsky.social leave BUT i am so happy they have found great post docs. Mixed feelings of joy and sadness

Yeast dynamin Vps1 coordinates cycles of membrane constriction and relaxation by coupling GTP hydrolysis, to scaffold membrane remodelling during retrograde trafficking Thomas Pucadyil and coworkers link.springer.com/article/10.1...
Vps1 drives membrane constriction and fission necessary for endosomal protein sorting - The EMBO Journal
The trafficking of cargo between endosomes and the Golgi apparatus uses both retromer-dependent and retromer-independent routes. Disruptions to these routes lead to the mis-sorting of lysosomal cargo,...

Mechanosensing at the endoplasmic reticulum by IRE1
Sensing and integration of mechanical forces in eukaryotic cells have largely been attributed to the plasma membrane and the nucleus. Here, we identify the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) as an autonomous ...

Not many people know this but 🐸 embryos make an amazing system to study immune cells. If 🐟 embryos become less transparent as they grow, 🐸 embryos do the reverse, becoming progressively transparent. I wanted to like QED's new 1% preprint ranking. I really did. But the more I looked at the data, the more uncomfortable it made me. Here is my full peer review. open.substack.com/pub/blekhman...

@richardsever.bsky.social can you clarify: which licenses would restrict qed, or any other preprint scraper, from using preprints for analysis by AI agents?
Just to emphasise again, these are not our rankings and there is no ‘deal’. I agree on issues around licences btw - hence authors can select more restrictive ones - but even then that would not preclude ranking by a third party- in the same way one can’t stop a journalist writing about a paper
@richardsever.bsky.social Is it correct that @qedscience.bsky.social scored all #preprints from last year and made those scores public? Was this cleared by authors? If editors or reviewers can see those scores isn’t this unfair to all of us that want to share our science @biorxivpreprint.bsky.social?
