If I wanted to protect the most prestigious and highly paid jobs for the social groups who usually hold them I'd probably design an education system that discouraged poorer children from studying the entry qualifications for these jobs as early as possible..

"The rate of young people who become Neets is ultimately downstream of the strength of their local economies, not the curriculum".
Started writing on Andy Burnham’s education proposal thinking “not sure about this”. Realised in writing “no, I am sure: it sucks!”
It's really harmful to claim that organisations have to follow the guidance, and I don't think trans rights orgs should be doing so. Organisations have to follow the law. The guidance will be influential, but it is not mandatory, and making people think it is, is not good.
Thing about British Steel being nationalised is there is no argument around nationalising it that doesn't also apply to the universities except "steel is boy coded :) and teaching is girl coded :("
Nothing says, "things are better than two years ago" than annual race riots, politicians being murdered in their own homes, the university system imploding, trans people being hounded out of their own homes, the entire country spending weeks at a time boiling, and our media eco-system imploding
The fact that J.K. Rowling successfully bullied Amnesty International into taking down a report that accurately called out her attack on trans people, especially trans women, is so repulsive and such a display of the power of her money, and her choice to put her vast fortune behind persecution.
Amnesty removes report that called JK Rowling's centre 'anti-rights'
Amnesty International UK has removed a report which labelled JK Rowling's sexual abuse crisis centre Beira's Place as "anti-rights".

these myths about ageing are so corrosive to society, "your brain doesn't finish developing until you're 25!", "a 19 year old and a 22 year old is a problematic age gap!", "7 year olds can't have a bottle and half of rosé with a meal" It's ridiculous

as a catholic[derogatory] i can clock when someones a protestant MGMT Little Dark Age catholic convert when they use the word "Heresy" unironically- i know what you are(Warhammer 40,000 fan)

UK Right: We have been denied the Brexit we want Me: Holy shit! You were denied ending British EU membership? UKR: LOL no...no not that one Me: So.... ending borderless trade and free movement? UKR: Haha no not that either Me: Which Brexit were you denied, exactly? UKR: Oh, you know the one
You already got one, and you didn't like it.
are we certain that Keri Starmer hasn't just dyed his hair and put on a slightly different accent.
Burnham obviously wanta an extended transition period because it's Labour policy that any transition must be as long and painful and difficult as possible,
This is bad enough as it is, but what's worse is that UK citizens are openly praising the terrorist attack and the attacker under their real names all over Facebook, with no indication that the police are doing anything about it. Incitement and glorification of terrorism. No grandmas though 🤷
Let's play 'Hunt the Edinburgh attack story in the Telegraph'...
And Labour boasted about it! They bragged that they did more on immigration than the Tories did. They called ANN WIDDECOMBE woke for opposing putting trans women in men's prisons. They're PROUD of it all.
In his time in office Starmer has overseen the largest rollback of migrants, trans and disabled rights in arguably a generation. He has gone further than the previous Conservative government on hostile policies and the demonisation and discrimination of marginalised groups.
If Muslims or members of the Asian and Black community had set fire to white people’s homes with children running for their lives, do you think we would be discussing legitimate concerns or focussing on who radicalised them and ideological and contributing cultural factors?
I have to say, listening to the Today programme dedicate an entire (context free) section about whether migrants are more likely to be convicted criminals *the morning after* hundreds of non-migrants of my own ethnicity committed a pogrom is blood boiling.
Russia is openly waging a form of hybrid warfare against us and this is part of it.
We need leaders who can spell out what's happening clearly and with force.
Everyone on X and elsewhere who called for a violent response should be charged with incitement. Everyone involved in the pogrom should be locked up with exemplary sentences. Govt should make it clear that will be the response in future anywhere else. Enough.
reading about the May government for a thing and mad, mad, mad that a Conservative Prime Minister said this nine years ago, I hate how much we've lost since then! I hate it so much! www.theguardian.com/society/2017...
R: I think on balance maybe you had better take the watch off. If it’s broken. No good can come of consulting it. G: but what if it’s not broken. What if it’s correct. What if every moment that we consider it the time just resets itself to t? R: then you’d definitely better take the watch off
Opening my phone this morning to the devastating news of John Blanche's passing. His was some of the first Warhammer art my eyes ever beheld, the pieces that defined the 41st millennium for me and countless others. He was a visionary creative and his impact is fundamentally incalculable.
RIP to John Blanche, the best to ever do it. Before Warhammer was even Warhammer he understood what it was: weird, gross, unsettling, maximalist.
Not sure why the news right now isn't full of the people obviously identifiable from riot footage getting door knocked and dragged out in their keks.
A racist instigates a race riot on BBC and receives no pushback, other racists conduct a race riot and get fawning coverage in the UK papers, while non-white Brits with left-wing politics are excluded from the BBC and left-wing protests are demonised in the media. This is a two-tiered society
