Pro-Palestine protesters, who sprayed red paint and broke some windows, are about to be sentenced as *terrorists*. Neither they nor the jurors were told of this possibility during their trial for criminal damage. So they were unable to defend themselves against this far more serious charge.

A year-long inquiry into the 2022 debacle, which came to light last year after an unprecedented reporting restriction was lifted by the High Court, found the data breach was a "foreseeable systemic failure" instead of a one-off that could have been avoided. Tan Dhesi, the Labour chairman of the Commons defence committee, which wrote the report, said: "This inquiry began with a data breach, but became about the real lives affected by delay, secrecy and flawed decision-making. "The broader picture is deeply troubling. The Ministry of Defence should stick to defence - it should never have been lett to run immigration casework schemes."Secrecy has been too easily used as a shield against proper accountability in areas far removed from sensitive operations." In the report, the committee said secrecy measures implemented by the Tories and later continued by Labour "imposed serious costs on democratic scrutiny, accountability and public trust" while major decisions were taken "behind closed doors" A blunder by the MoD led to the names of 33,000 Afghans who had helped UK forces and applied for relocation after the Taliban regained control of the country five years ago being leaked online. The breach happened in February 2022, when a Royal Marine corporal shared a spreadsheet containing what he believed was a handful of names with a group of "trustworthy" Afghans. In fact the spreadsheet contained the contact details of those who had worked and fought alongside British forces in Afghanistan over two decades. Its value to the Taliban was obvious.

Usually, if something is deeply damaging and defamatory to an organization you founded, you wouldn't say you want everyone to read it. Rowling is someone who is confident the system will back her regardless of how she undermines her own organizations legal position because of her wealth.

JK Rowling through her TERF organization, Beira's Place have sent Amnesty International a demand letter seeking a full retraction of their report, a public apology, and a bar to future criticism of gender critical groups as anti rights orgs. If they don't comply, they'll commence legal action.

The first page of a formal, typed legal letter dated 14 July 2026. It is addressed to the leadership of Amnesty International UK: Helen Horton (Chair, Amnesty International UK Section), Sandy Ruthven (Chair, Amnesty International UK Charitable Trust), and Kerry Moscogiuri (Chief Executive). The contact information and phone numbers in the top-right corner are redacted with a large black block, and a footer at the bottom is also blacked out. ​The subject line reads: "BEIRA’S PLACE | AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL UK PUBLICATION DATED 8 JULY 2026". ​The body text states that the sender acts on behalf of Beira’s Place, a sexual violence support service for women in Edinburgh and the Lothians. It asserts the legal right under the Equality Act 2010 to provide single-sex services and references the Supreme Court ruling in For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers to define "woman" by biological sex. The letter strongly objects to page 20 of a newly published Amnesty report titled "A growing threat; the anti-rights movement in the UK", which allegedly categorizes Beira's Place as an "anti-rights organization."
