On July 29 StatCan released a 'corrected' version of its table 36-10-0713-01 with annual labour productivity statistics for 2025, by industry and province. They contrast greatly with the annual version of the quarterly LP statistics released June 3. Hard to know what's going on with Canadian LP.
This is how it's done. Fight it out in the primary, and then link arms to defeat the common enemy in the general. Great demonstration of post-primary leadership from @mallorymcmorrow.bsky.social.
Republican political theory: everyone to the left of hunting the poor for sport is a communist.
The Film industry's fixation on established IP is now so terminal that they themselves confuse IP and branding. If you want a "completely different" James Bond, what you actually want is, something that isn't James Bond, but is James Bond branded. Which is dumb. Make a new thing, and make it good.
every time I see this there's a lot of "what if we did a completely different thing that isn't James Bond at all" hypotheticals and, yes, many of those hypotheticals sound neat and I would like to see those movies but they are not James Bond, lots of us still like James Bond, let's do both
my extremely boring James Bond opinion is that casting a handsome young dude who can credibly punch bad guys and smolder sexily at ladies is all we need to do here it's James Bond, there's a formula, people like the formula, people will watch the formula
James Bond producer shares update on 007 casting: ‘It’s got to be really different’
I hope Musk makes an historically accurate Spider-Man movie asap.
I posted a new sketch on YouTube, where it's meeting an audience who don't get the white gloves bit, have never heard of minstrel shows and are getting arsey when people explain.

An interesting take on this, but it doesn't really address the accusations of market power. High ROI on capital and low margins do not stand as an argument that the grocery sector suffers from a lack of competition. Quite the contrary. 1/5
Grocery margins are low is a frequently rehashed point to argue against Mamdani’s public grocery stores. Grocery is indeed a low margin business. But its median return on invested capital is above that for all firms, so it is NOT a low profitability business. Let me explain. 🧵
A man in Barcelona complimented my shoes once and I obsessively replay the moment in my head again and again like a detective haunted by the memories of his beautiful dead wife
A thing I learned a while back that blew my mind is that men almost never receive compliments, especially cishet men. Giving a man a compliment will literally make their year
Farming just on the edge of Palliser's Triangle or acting as a sales agent (also in western Canada).
Enough “what would you do on the commune questions” If you got sent back 100 years and were given your grandparent’s job, what are you doing?

Vividly remember this from when it happened. It was... stressful, for certain people
Reminds me of time Premier Ralph Klein tabled (!) a term paper of his in the legislature (he was taking a correspondence course in communications) and it turned out to have a bunch of poorly attributed (indeed, improperly quoted) sentences from internet sources. 1/
Some people have never received comments from Reviewer 2.
People don't seem to want to admit that "I would be ashamed to have written any part of this" is shockingly harsh language for the average film review. She's within her rights to say it, and she knew exactly the response she would get for it, but it's definitely an eyebrow-raiser
Teambuilding: their name, why they are in the movie, and one interesting non-work related fact about themselves.
To get casual fans caught up, the new Avengers movie should start with all the characters doing a rap where they say who they are and what their deal is
Reacher is almost a spiritual successor to the A-Team. The dialog is bad, the action is good, and the character motivations are simple and uncomplicated. But it knows what it is and doesn't feel like it was written by a committee of profit-bots. Also, Tom Sawyer by Rush, so that's 2 reasons to watch
🚨 new reacher trailer just dropped 🚨

I don't know if it counts, but this is my answer anyway.
