Bluesky is not a 'Maria from Allo Allo bubble'. It’s just one of the increasingly few public spaces where fans of Mimi Labonq get called out, and if that makes you uncomfortable, you need to think about that.

@goonpod.bsky.social, dyk that Sellers was one of the celebs considered for guest star role in Captain Scarlet? (His voice, lookalike puppet.) (Obvs never happened, but did for Cliff and Shads in Tbirds Are Go movie and Stanley Unwin in 'Secret Service'. gerryanderson.com/blogs/blog/c...)

Captain Scarlet: a mechanical man?

Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's original script for the first episode of Captain Scarlet had a very different take on the show's main character!

New! THE SILENT BUGLER With Chas Early pod.link/1569929507 A Cold War thriller, Goon Show style. So, not a thriller at all. There's a Russian time machine involved, so could it be Cold War sci-fi? No, not really. We look at two versions of the show plus reveal how Ray Ellington was a hero motorist!

Can’t sleep. Mentally recasting all the Sellers roles in Dr Strangelove with Peter Sallis, including and especially Major Kong who Sellers didn’t even play

Spending my evening watching the history of television news in Spain, because why not? Anyway, the logo for Telediario looks to have taken inspiration from another part of Spain.

Is Corra coming on?

I went through a weird period around 1997 when I would buy CD singles by bands you'd see once featured on page 11 of Select or Vox and never hear of again. Mostly pish. Ruth, Me Me Me, Octopus, Nugent, Headswim, 18 Wheeler (actually the last lot were pretty great) We'll never see their like again

Cartoon of Milligan accompanying a lengthy piece entitled "GAD, IT WAS SO HOT AN ENGLISHMAN ACTUALLY UNDID HIS DINNER JACKET" - Spike's musings on board the SS Arcadia, as reported to the Sunday Dispatch in May 1958

The world didn’t turn to shit when Bowie died, it turned when that couple’s wedding had loads of guests enter to a Chris Brown song with individually choreographed dances and we all went oh wow this is cool instead of turning up with burning pitchforks at YouTube House.

Great discussion here between Tyler and @paulwhitelaw.bsky.social about one of Peter Sellers’ best films, which everyone seems to have watched on Channel 4 in 1992. I was studying in Swansea then and can confirm that chatty taxi drivers were still talking about the shoot to anyone who would listen.

ONLY TWO CAN PLAY (1962) With Paul Whitelaw @paulwhitelaw.bsky.social pod.link/1569929507 The film where Peter Sellers said his co-star couldn't act for toffee. She proved him right by winning a Bafta. He also sold his shares in the film right before it went on and made major coin. Oh, PETER!

Both @goonpod.bsky.social and @smershpod.com cost me a fortune in Blu Rays and DVDs, as I listen to their podcasts and simply have to watch the damn films I don't own or on streaming. I have a Tremors Blu Ray on the way at the moment thanks to Smersh Pod.

It says more about me that during a conversation about penguins someone mentioned the Chinstrap species and I bellowed "I DON'T MIND IF I DO!" like a pissed uncle.

First saw this back in the ‘92 channel 4 Sellers films season, still remains my favourite film of his for many reasons including the cast, story itself and the mix of comedy and drama. The kitchen scene between Virginia Maskell and Sellers shows her brilliance as an actress. Thanks for a great listen .
