this sucks. I read BrooklynVegan in particular all the time. Wild that the Madden bros of Good Charlotte are largely to blame. I hope everyone who lost their jobs gets back on their feet soon. It’s rough out there especially for those of us who (try!) to write for a living

Its a lib "bubble" because MAGA can't stick dick opinions in my face without a block. People like bluesky because unlike Twitter you can curate/filter out stupid bullshit. The only reason conservatives hate it is because they cant force you to pay attention to them. That better not fucking change.

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

There’s a lot of chat about the use of GenAI in images, as there should be, but I’ve noticed a HUGE uptick in AI generated text in the social media output of official accounts for musicians (and presumably elsewhere) and whoever is deciding to do this is doing their clients such a HUGE disservice.

Yep, the Cinema Sinification of moviegoing is truly depressing. Some genres, like the classic bedroom farce, are all about the audience recognizing tropes and conventions and merrily anticipating what comes next. I do love a "everyone hides behind the same screen and under the same bed" scene!

if I ever taught film criticism lesson one would be “you being smarter than the movie is not interesting to anyone”

As a former Writing Center tutor and director: Writing Centers are a critical resource for connecting students to the dialogic nature of academic writing and teaching them that they have ideas worth expressing.

Disgraceful actions by @harvard.edu - destroying their writing program at a time when it's needed more than ever as "A.i." undermines everything. Deepest shame on this institution and all the best to @janerosenzweig.bsky.social. www.thecrimson.com/article/2026...
