I really hope this takes off. There needs to be a creative storefront marketplace that actually bans genai and drop shipping, and I hope it's a 100% ban. Etsy is completely ruined and not artist friendly. Much luck to Fybe! fybe.art
one thing I miss from the pre-genAI days is that there was no questioning that human nonsense was simply human nonsense. a dog piloting a plane? some silly human toiled over that in photoshop. now, when something is nonsensical, we question if it’s ai and don’t get to enjoy it the same way.
every time someone buys a commission, an artist gets their wings. their draw-wings.
I think what I mean is like the goal of indie-comics shouldn't *inherently* be to be polished, palatable, and high-brow enough to eventually leave. But I think in the Eng-speaking space that's currently… widely the case. And that's why ppl yearn for zines/doujin and more diverse opportunities.
It's cool for the part of indie comics culture that like wants to see if it can wiggle its way into career comics culture but there needs to be enough support for indie comics culture that wants to stay indie comics culture, too. We need more doujin vibes. More zinester vibes.
friend: what's the difference between entertainment art folks and illustrators? me: entertainment artists will draw a minion without complaint. illustrators will complain about having to draw a minion
(sorry for not posting days ago) The last three pages of “RIFT” Chapter 1 released Friday! See the conclusion here to see what happens to our two best friends: riftseries.carrd.co #webcomic

$1196... So close to $1300 and unlocking the sticker!
We're like $150 away from all physical book backers getting a silly little sticker. I really wanna give everyone goodies with their book as a special thanks for the wonderful support, I'd love an extra boost to get them made ❤️🙏 www.kickstarter.com/projects/353...

AUGUST 1ST: "Spoken For" was released. Thank you for listening to FLAVOR FOLEY! 💖 www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvYL...
the yaoi/yuri is essential to not think 24/7 about the impending doom
I have way too much fun with these. A sleepy yote with yellow flowers 🧡
"what can I do?" Call your reps and tell them to vote no on the Online Safety bill package because things will get worse the more censorship laws are allowed to pass. Tell your reps that payment processors must allow legal content. Go yell at youtube for their shitty TOS.
The TOS being so strict that they control you offsite is the problem; sites like Patreon and Kofi have offsite clauses too. The social criminalization of the suggestion that somewhere you might be doing nsfw is a problem. It's branding a person as obscene and we need consumers to stand up for us
a bunch of popular ASMR artists lost their channels forever this week, after YouTube cited them for violating terms against "sexually gratifying" content: www.404media.co/youtube-asmr...

Not to soap box about this but i feel that ppl in the english indie comics space should hear it: creating doujinshi/self published comics without the stamp of a prestigious fair or an indie publisher does not make you any less of a comic artist. drawing comics makes you a comic artist.
Jez San, founder of Argonaut, donated 2 million pounds to the conservative party in 2025. He was the biggest individual donor in Q1 of that year. Please, be informed before purchasing anything. You can emulate PS1 games on basically any device these days (even your phone) with ease.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 763: Having a tough time? Good. Got a rejection? Good. Got a bad review? Good. Had to abandon a project because it wasn't working? Good. These things all teach you resilience, patience and determination; the things you need most as a writer.
#ThrowbackThursday here's another Alex art I revisited! 2011... That's also the year I self published my first comic book. (And you can support my current one RIGHT NOW on Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/353...)
not that I ever planned to do anything with the knights beyond sketchbook doodles, but in general telling a creator about your idea for their story or characters is the best way to make sure it will never happen lol (same goes for like Marvel or other public IP writers/characters too btw)
see, the thing is everything folks make up about these guys is stuff I won't/can't touch anymore for copyright reasons so in a way people spoiled it for themselves (not directed at you, just in general people tend to do that with creators and they never realize that's burned ground then) 😅
With a week to go for the Kattabolt ch1 Kickstarter, we opted to include a lil stretch goal. At $1300, ALL physical comic backers will get a BIG CONSEQUENCES sticker with their book & mini prints! Come get your guy! 🦊 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/353659954/kattabolt-chapter-one-print-edition
