Introducing value objects and having generators / fakers / fixtures that know how to generate instances within the bounds of the value domain makes for far less "new"s and more interesting test cases.

After a long summer break, I'm continuing my blog post series on event sourcing, focusing on how to handle acceptance workflows: an employee makes a change that needs approval from, e.g. their manager. So we need to accept or reject events. www.planetgeek.ch/2026/09/28/e... #EventSourcing #fsharp

Event Sourcing: two ways to enable accept/reject workflows

When an employee corrects the time they started or stopped working in a time-tracking system, a workflow typically notifies their manager or HR that the data has changed. Then, the manager or HR…

I'm considering going carless soon. I could easily walk to my local shops/supemarket and I work from home, so no commuting. Most of my leisure travel could be on public transport. It would certainly be better for my health. :)

I do not fear the rise of artificial intelligence. But I do fear the rise of a small set of billionaires and companies who seek to build such things to increase their power and their wealth, all without transparency or accountability.

Felienne Hermans has fallen out of love with the field she has spent her career in. What followed was one of DDD Europe's most talked-about sessions, a personal, funny look at why programming culture rewards complexity and punishes the opposite. 👉 Watch this talk from DDDEU26: buff.ly/mcXsPuK

On March 26, 2026, during a debate on violence against women in Germany’s Bundestag, left-wing MP Kathrin Gebel was repeatedly interrupted by AfD MP Martin Reichardt. She responded: “Mr. Reichardt, the clitoris has 3,000 nerve endings, and you’re still more sensitive. That’s quite an achievement.”

been furious with Starmer for long enough that this is genuinely coming as a surprise to me, but I'm feeling a bit.......sad this morning? not really about him per se but about the waste of time, I guess, and the end of yet another political failure when Britain really couldn't afford another one

I've been working on a tiny #eventstore project in TS and Effect. I should write a post about it or twitch what I build currently. F# will always have a special place in my heart, but honestly, I'm drifting away from .Net world due to the strange direction Microsoft is heading in...

Update: the last 2 days have been *amazing*, and the support folks have shown me is genuinely moving. I had another little cry. But (oh, here he goes), there are still some places left on the upcoming workshops, and even without the discount that ended last night, they're worth every penny! (1/2)

I'm pretty much defaulting to F# for my domain code nowadays, C# is still less friction for infra, but once you get used to the ergonomics of F# to describe business rules, it's difficult to go back.

try F# today folks, it comes for free within #dotnet sdk !Super easy to get started in vscode with Ionide extension or VS/rider , it’s the .NET ocaml great interop with C# in the same solution, use all the nuget packages you already know and love 💕 has scripting .fsx and REPL baked in
