The case for Ken Martin. ”The investments @kenmartin.bsky.social has made have left states much better prepared to organize for elections and win them...flipping 30 legislative seats in special elections.” If you read one article this wknd make it this. It’s that important. 🔥

Very important piece by @davidoatkins.bsky.social at Washington Monthly: the DNC is actually doing just fine and raising record money, and the hit pieces are a product of a tier of useless DC consultants who don't want their media buy gravy train to end. washingtonmonthly.com/2026/07/31/t...

Katie Wilson is getting shit done. - Free school meals for all kids - Tiny home villages to get people off the streets - Major transit improvements - Collaboration with the Seattle Social Housing Developer The Seattle Times and Council President Joy Hollingsworth are looking to kneecap her.

Tired: sewer socialism Wired: server socialism (Although it does seem like he's also doing the first thing. And halal plate socialism.)

New w @pamherd.bsky.social: Mamdani just announced PIT Crew — an NYC tech unit that will build digital public products. Takeaway: Mamdani is reclaiming a vision of tech in govt for progressives, one not driven by consultants and which solves real problems. 🧵 donmoynihan.substack.com/p/mamdani-in...

"Centering class, focusing on bread-and-butter policies, and delivering tangible changes in the daily lives of working people is the way forward for the left. We need to show that it is socialists — not fascists — who are delivering for working people." tribunemag.co.uk/2026/07/rise...

“Republicans have been trying for five years to rewrite the history of Donald Trump’s two biggest moral crimes. One was his violent attempt to overturn the 2020 election. The other was his deadly mismanagement of COVID.” open.substack.com/pub/thebulwa...

Here Are the Republicans’ Biggest Lies From Their Fauci Show Trial

In their retelling of the COVID story, the doctor was the bad guy, the vaccines were deadly, and Trump did everything right.

open.substack.com

Republicans want to rewrite the history of COVID just like they want to rewrite the history of January 6th and the ongoing reality of climate change. They refuse to accept that they or their ideas could be the villain of the story. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

Anthony Fauci’s high-profile Senate hearing: what we learned

Six years on from Covid crisis, Republicans still politicizing science – and Fauci remains a political punching bag

theguardian.com

Running out of body bags, using forklifts to transfer corpses into makeshift morgues, a mortician conducting 200 funerals in a month when he usually does 30, crematories running at double capacity… And these senators just want to memory-hole it all www.nytimes.com/2020/04/30/n...

‘We Ran Out of Space’: Bodies Pile Up as N.Y. Struggles to Bury Its Dead (Gift Article)

The coronavirus crisis is overwhelming New York’s system for burying the dead.

nytimes.com

Dr. Fauci is a hero. He really is. He helped guide America thru a mass death event. Millions more could have died but they did not, thanks to him. Everyone over 70 owes him a debt. It is disgusting that we live in a country that not only dishonors him but actively smears his good name.

Republican members of Congress—all of whom have sworn loyalty to a man, Trump, who scientific journals confirm caused at least 400,000 needless deaths during the pandemic—are today calling for prison for a man who *saved* millions of lives in the same period. A *disgusting* day.

Sometimes I think about how the tech bros could go down in history as beloved heroes by doing epic stuff like ending world hunger, but they never will because this kind of fulfillment and joy is unavailable to someone who destroyed their own capacity for empathy.

Being able to help someone even a tiny bit is like helium. It’s joyous and light and nearly narcotic and I think if I were a millionaire I could feel that feeling all the time. Money is wasted on the rich.

My new piece - a glass-half-full interpretation of our moment: The Right is freaking out because they know we could be on the brink of proving that egalitarian, pluralistic democracy is possible. We are confronted with a world-historic chance:

A World-Historic Chance

THE ODYSSEY's instantly, predictably enormous success is Exhibit #32176 that the right wing's grievance-farming operation is not some great American cultural shift. Most people don't give a shit about their petty crusades.

AOC: Is the answer to our problems to turn to the same playbook over and over again? A playbook that says, in order to win, Democrats must rely on the same dark money—$50 million and counting—from the same people who backed 35 election deniers to Congress who voted to overturn the 2020 election.

Here's how I know Dems still don't appreciate the situation America is in and what MAGAs are capable of: the Governor of Kentucky should weeks ago have marched to the place Mitch McConnell's staff says he's in and then—if he didn't find him there—appointed a Democrat to his seat.

“You said the 2020 election was rigged by either Venezuela or China. When you called that fella in Georgia pleading for 11,780 votes, was that part of the rigging, or part of the 6-year investigation? Just one more thing, sir, who was president while all this rigging took place?”

Actually read through the documents Trump released last night and they show basically the opposite of what he claimed. It shows that Russia aggressively sought to interfere on behalf of Trump in 2020. China explored it but thought the backlash would be too much and stayed out.
