It's interesting how the tech press hasn't asked and directly addressed the question of why OpenAI et al are doing things like "proving math theorems" rather than "speeding up solving cancer" because I don't think anyone would be mad if an LLM somehow did that and made the answer available for free

Think about how centrists are melting down at the idea that trans people are telling them "if you need me to vote for your guy for him to win, you need me to still be alive and able to vote" Just *that* amount of acknowledging even that small amount of power, is causing them to have huge freakouts.

This was the obvious escalation when Democratic candidates started going openly anti-trans, major orgs stayed silent and prominent trans gentry actively excused them. I've covered politics for over 20 years; they're not going to get better with even more power. Politicians never do.

Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.
I'm having a hard time stomaching voting for my federal Iowa Democrat candidates. The transphobic bullshit is unacceptable. Frankly, they deserve to lose for this, but the GOP candidates cannot be allowed to hold power. *sigh*
I will never vote for an anti-transgender Democrat like Josh Turek and you should not either. I'll probably be writing my case to abstain from a handful of races like his on Monday. Josh Turek is showing the exact slippery slope I've called out, in real time.
