Hi, I’m Otis Hart from NPR Music. In New Order’s 1987 version of “Temptation,” at 1 minute, 8 seconds, the live drums on the second and fourth beat of each measure drop out, leaving a drum machine to idle for six bars. At 1:20, they return, higher in the mix, and I run through the nearest wall.
