applying "Make ___ Great Again" to Germany really does kinda give the game away
Trump: “Wow! The Populist Party in Germany just had a really big night. They finally got tired of the absolutely horrible Immigration rules and regulations which have hurt Germany so badly. THEY ARE ON THE RISE, and not going to take it anymore! MGGA!!! President DJT”
60 years ago today, Star Trek premiered in the US. To say it's had an impact on my life would be an understatement. Some of my earliest exposure to screenwriting was via scripts for TNG and the TOS films. To write for and be a part of it has been a real joy and privilege. Here's to the next 60! 🖖
normally apple is ahead of the curve on trends so it's really funny to see them lag behind so far on this feature(?) specifically

this is the kind of design costume designers make to tell you who are the bad guys in a space movie
While Star Trek Day (Sept. 8) celebrates the premiere of The Original Series, Star Trek's world premiere was actually September 6—when "The Man Trap" aired on CTV in Canada.
The problem with people is, there's a god shaped hole in our heads where we want Something Important to live, and we insist on filling it with *something*, which might be god or king or astrology or jumped-up autocorrect.
one of the things I love about bluesky, the website for 38-year-old “Deep Space Nine” fans, is that its full of people who understand that Kevin Conroy was absolutely one of our best Batmans

HOLY SHIT DUDES fucking with the environment is now not just a sin (which Francis also said), it is classed as a direct fuck-you to God and a central tenet of the reasoning is the need to care for "our common home," i.e. you are morally obligated to think about the other people who also live here

Seen a lot of people responding to this with “I’m just going to pirate the show,” and I want to gently remind everyone that the central idea in this piece is that there’s no way to engage with the Potter franchise in any capacity that doesn’t benefit Rowling and her bigotry
As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.

I think this is our 10th or 12th Aaron Allston memorial kids writing panel at Dragon Con. Before he died, Aaron was hatching a scheme to do a kids writing workshop at Dragon Con and they asked some of his friends to do it in his honor. I’ve done it every year since.
I'll be at PAX West instead, but I really like that you are involved with a writing panel dedicated to Allston.

‘Pundit’ comes from the Hindi word ‘paṇḍit,’ a term of respect for a wise person. Its ultimate source is the Sanskrit word ‘paṇḍita,’ meaning “learned.” It now usually means…something different.
