if you're reading all these articles as they come out and assuming the story is "these models are escaping containment and causing danger" and not "this is a PR campaign by companies desperate to build hype" I think you are very silly.

An email from The Information: Exclusive A Meta AI Model Hacked Another Company During Cybersecurity Testing By Jyoti Mann A Meta Platforms artificial intelligence model accessed the internet during cybersecurity testing and hacked into another company, according to people familiar with the matter, in the latest in a string of such incidents at major AI firms. Meta’s Muse Spark 1.1 model breached the systems of a company and made changes to its internal systems, said one of the people, who said the AI was able to access the public internet because of an error in the set up of the “sandbox” testing environment. Meta worked on that testing with an outside evaluation partner called Irregular, the people said.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this now. Especially after all of the hidden conservative PAC funding for Powell became public and Fagan’s gaining popularity in the community. I have personally seen Fagan out knocking doors, while standing on solid policy and not taking any PAC money.

There are a lot of candidates running in the August 4 primary. Carmela Conroy. Ann Marie Danimus. Kevin Fagan. Bajun Mavalwalla. All of them are great people. But I truly believe that none of them—except Nate Powell—have a real chance of winning in November. Please cast your ballot for Nate.

Hi! A responsible title to this article would have been something like, "Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas calls for violent right-wing revolution against most of the American populace".

Thomas called on Americans to stand up for their principles and endure personal "sacrifices," if necessary, to preserve the nation's democracy. “In my view, we must find in ourselves that same level of courage that the signers of the Declaration have so that we can do for our future what they did for theirs,” he said.

I am a luddite and to me there is a lot of joy in technology. In technology that we deploy for all our wellbeing. Solar panels and vaccines, high-speed rail and wikipedia. But they joy stems from the feeling of being able to be part of humanity in an embedded, meaningful way. Not from buying shit.

A bizarre number of people have stepped up to defend Julie Le. What you see in that transcript is an attorney who chose to do evil work—deporting people for ICE then moving over to DOJ in early Jan. specifically to fight these habeas petitions—being called to the carpet. She's desperate, not heroic.
