Race is a social construct that has included Jews as a race, that had multiple white races. Racialization is the more important concept, and a better term, than race itself. Groups are racialized as "other", and using that term focuses on the process rather than reifying the categories.

But it is sorta *weird* that as a result a lot of people sorta linger in the hallway after talks to whisper ‘that was shit, right?’ to one another
I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. This is crucial, imo; Amnesty hasn't just harmed itself - possibly fatally - it's made the fight against transphobia harder *for everybody else*.
Tristan Grayford@tristangrayford.scot · 5d agoMy complaint included pointing out that they not only humiliated and undermined their own staff - they have by proxy undermined the work of LGBTQ+ and specifically trans rights orgs in general by giving credence that anti-trans groups are not hateful by nature
people are making good points about the "Is ADHD a social construct?" thing BUT it also seems like a "we need to have Kirby eat the frame thing." The original one in fact, they're doing eugenics! Or how I'd eat the frame: "Why are you assholes trying to take away medicine that helps people?"
Gina Martin, the woman responsible for the upskirting law in England, explicitly called out Rowling's transmisogyny in posting an upskirt shot of a trans woman. we don't have to constantly draw connections from transphobia to misogyny when we've been watching the misogyny for years.

It’s funny how Philosophy is the perfect environment for this kind of Discourse, both internally and externally with respect to the discipline. Just the ideal combination of clever, weirdos, creeps, fancy schools, media coverage, and zero stakes to anyone outside of a network of about 500 people.
Dr. Fauci is a hero. He really is. He helped guide America thru a mass death event. Millions more could have died but they did not, thanks to him. Everyone over 70 owes him a debt. It is disgusting that we live in a country that not only dishonors him but actively smears his good name.

once again thinking about how several genuinely brilliant philosophers hated trans people so much that they signed onto an amici brief with errors that would get you a B-/C+ in your 101 class at best
electability arguments are always but always bullshit that is trying to snow you. vote--and advocate as vigorously as you can for--your preference in the primary, vote against the greater evil in the general. anybody who presents a different option takes you for a rube.

and "3rd round of revisions" is the good outcome here. at least you know the changes you make in response to the referee will be reviewed by the referee you're responding to. usually you get rejected and pull the slot machine lever again

It's on its 3rd round of revisions with a reviewer who doesn't understand it. Other paper is shorter, "worse" (more narrowly focused). Just got the easiest first round R&R. Dice rolls
