Britain, where the national equality body is a boobyhatch jam-packed with wingnut cranks who fervently believe their job is creating weapons for police to hammer minorities that the press hates and wants to harm.

Do try to remember that the EHRC guidance only affects service providers and not employment, so if you work somewhere where there are toilets or changing rooms for employees that aren’t open to the public then your employers are wrong if they try to stop you from using facilities for your gender

🧵On @thenewsagents.co.uk yesterday, school closures and the lab leak theory were offered as two examples of legitimate questions that were hard to ask. Both have in fact been asked constantly since 2020. But here's a thread on why I think they were wrong and dangerous on school closures 1/12
What I want for trans + people in the UK. The puberty blocker ban lifted. The toilet ban scrapped. Supreme Court ruling overtuned/made ineffective. An informed consent model for gender affirming care. Self ID. Non-Binary people legaly recognised. No trans + censorship in schools.
I was initially disappointed at how they had come to book the event in the first place, and was sure it would end up with years of legal wrangling (as a lot of these things do), but the people in Féile seem to know what they are at, and this is a solid and beautiful fuck off to transphobia.
I know everyone’s afraid to hire Black women bc it might make a white man upset but I need some work. I have 5-figure medical debt, a cat that needs a vet appt 😿, a medically complex household, the usual bills that come with adulthood, and I’d love to get good skincare again 😩 HIRE ME.
PLEASE SHARE THIS To the young person (longish dark hair, patterned waistcoat, chinos & DM boots) who left this scroll of papers on the Piccadilly Line train at South Kensington station at about 4.25pm today, I’ve handed it to the station staff at Hammersmith.
I did everything they asked, played nicely, played their games. - Fought for a GP referral to GIC - Waited 16 months for a GIC appointment - Answered the invasive questions - Took their homeopathic doses of HRT - Saved the NHS money by having private SRS - Took statutory declarations 1/8
I need a lawyer. I was being forcefully detransitioned and had my estradiol discontinued after during my stay at a hospital in Georgia with them knowing I was a trans woman. If anyone knows any please let me know or message me.
If an MRI scanner is miscalibrated it can lead to a spillage of magnetic monopoles over the patient and scan room floor. These have to be cleaned with a special ultrastatic brush and are only visible in the light from a lava lamp
It's safe to assume that all major LLMs are scraping Bluesky data to train future models. As an open protocol, Bluesky is one of the few sources of fresh human-generated content that anybody can gobble up. So all this is probably going in the models. There are submarines in the Great Lakes.
See my complaint to the Charity Commission about LGB Alliance’s campaign. Screening out people who don’t support the organisation & promoting results as though they reflected wider LGB opinion fails their duty to present evidence accurately & not mislead the public.
I think once the AI bubble pops we're going to see a wave of private equity leveraged mergers among cash-poor tech sector firms. Who will then fail to build anything new, or even hold onto their users, because they've forgotten how to build products customers want and *we've already got enough*.
Feminist analysis: by tracing the gender imaginary throughout the trajectory of modernity, we can glean the contours of an inference which will support a recuperative reading of the contingent subject, such that it can claim a contested selfhood The gender politics: I eat meat to become strong
I quite like Butler but also the monomaniacal gender politics of reactionaries are a few steps below the thesis of 'Gender Trouble' in complexity lol

it has been an exercise in how a directed propaganda campaign can be highly effective, and seeing otherwise liberal people fall for it has disgusted and outraged me. People who lived through and fought against an extremely similar campaign of homophobia in the early 1980s, even!
Worth adding some numbers to this. The British press decided to make trans rights into an issue. It just wasn’t an issue before. This was a top-down decision. shado-mag.com/articles/opi...
1. In an incredible new landmark review, the Health Council of the Netherlands has declared that gender-affirming care for trans youth works, reducing wait times is "morally urgent," and regret is rare. It is the latest of many Euro countries to advance care. Subscribe to support our journalism.
Landmark Official Dutch Review Recommends Trans Youth Care, Call For Expanding Treatment
The review finds that wait times must be shortened, that few people detransition, and that trans youth care has enormous benefits.

The person who brought in the Upskirting law is specifically accusing Rowling of breaking it.
A lot of everyone pretending nobody knows what the Starmer project was; nobody knows what went wrong and nobody knows why it’s over. And I put it to you that the bafflement is not because nobody knows: it’s because *everyone knows just fine*, and it’s acutely embarrassing to say you played along.
It's 2026 and schools are still capitulating to homophobic arseholes, don't ever moan that we don't still need Pride or that Section 28 was 25+ years ago. 🖕
Authors of books featuring same-sex families, gay characters and other LGBTQ+ themes have told The Bookseller they have had school speaking events cancelled, or pupils withdrawn, amid complaints from “homophobic” parents 👇
It's really harmful to claim that organisations have to follow the guidance, and I don't think trans rights orgs should be doing so. Organisations have to follow the law. The guidance will be influential, but it is not mandatory, and making people think it is, is not good.
Just had meeting with kiddo's school. She has been fully supported, treated with full equality & dignity for years. All of that changes from September. Full segregation & humiliation across the board. The school staff cried in the meeting. This will absolutely lead to children's deaths 1/2
Ten years ago in the UK, even conservative MPs were supportive of self ID and warned about the dangers of trans bathroom bans in the US. Now a center left labour government is implementing a nationwide bathroom ban by fiat on August 5th without even so much as a vote.
I've spoken a lot about my own personal heartbreak over this horrorshow as someone who begung transitioning over a decade ago, but let's also spare a thought for all those trans people who are not out yet, and are facing a much more hostile world if they ever want to take that plunge.
New: the EHRC’s code of practice is set to come into effect on 5th August, after the minister made a commencement order that has now been published. More to follow. www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2026/78...
It's still fucking wild that the UK has enshrined transphobia as a protected belief that nobody is allowed to question but actually being trans is actually not protected even slightly and in fact they can discriminate. Like the exact opposite of the point of human rights legislation
When I criticize Dems in the United States who waffle on transgender issues, its because I don't want them turning into Labour UK, who pretty much has fully espoused transphobia and is enacting extreme harm on trans people in that country far worse than the conservatives had done.
Magdalene Visaggio was once in seminary, training to become a Catholic priest. Now she's a snarky online trans girl like the rest of us. In a challenging new essay for Assigned, she writes about the toll being hated for who she is has taken on her psyche. assignedmedia.org/breaking-new...

Can't fucking stand it and it's used mostly by people who refuse to accept we are people
Trans moots - how do y'all feel about "trans" being used as a noun? My gut instinct is to replace it with "gay" and see how I feel, in which case I hate it. "Of course I support gay - I'm not a monster". Surely it wouldn't be too much bother to add the word "people" in?
