If you're a reporter asking a candidate to denounce a foreign terrorist group simply because he shares the same religion, you are a gutter bigot of the worst fucking kind. Do they ask Mike Rogers to denounce Christian terrorists like Tim McVeigh, Eric Robert Rudolph and Robert Lewis Dear? No? Huh
@meetthepress.com interview w @abdulelsayed.bsky.social is 100% gotcha, starting w his criticizing Obama 14 years ago, at age 27. Two Qs on that, then 'can you deny ties to Muslim Brotherhood' etc. He handles them all with aplomb, and keeps coming back to economy, corruption, etc. But COME ON.
VERY important point from my colleague Sam Bagenstos - the 2026 Senate races will determine the future of the Supreme Court and federal courts more broadly. Which means the 2026 Senate race in MICHIGAN could determine the future of the Supreme Court
"The election for Michigan’s next U.S. Senator ... may well decide which party has a majority in the Senate. And control of the Senate will determine the direction of our courts." David Jaffe and me in the Detroit Free Press today. www.freep.com/story/opinio...

Threats of Political Violence Have America’s Elected Officials Living in Fear (Gift Article)
A Times investigation has found that violent threats have become a new normal among public officials, reshaped private lives, cost millions in security and pushed people out of office.

I’ve seen Black people across social media platforms talking about picnics at lynchings and so many white people are in our mentions insisting that the last public execution was 1936 and that lynchings were “mob murder” not state sanctioned. So confidently loud and incredibly wrong.
this country will not be transformed without addressing policing, prisons, surveillance and militarism. Sorry. Cannot get around it. The carceral socialists may make incremental progress but they will ALWAYS come up against state violence.
The civil suit filed by Renee Good’s survivors is a good rough draft for a future indictment of Stephen Miller for criminal civil rights violations. www.headsupnews.org/p/if-stephen...
If Stephen Miller wants to find a domestic terror conspiracy, maybe he should look in the mirror
A lawsuit filed by Renee Good’s family describes a coordinated effort to deprive Somalis, Latinos, and protesters of their civil rights

Part (but far from all) of what's horrific here is: a woman weighing the consequences of speaking up about being sexually assaulted, because speaking up imposes burdens and costs (and so does not speaking up).
Congressional candidate is raped while repairing her campaign signs
Embarrassed, she initially didn’t want to report attack. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office's investigation is ongoing. A Phoenix New Times exclusive.

reading this, recalling how quickly the killing of Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman slipped out of the news

I feel like we don’t talk about millennials in particular, hitting our 40s - in earlier generations many of us would be reaching the peak of our careers, but because of disaster after disaster, locust after locust eating our industries, many of us are on our 3rd or 4th fresh start.
I went the NHS emergency room in London over the weekend, it was free. Free to anyone. I'd have been charged only if I was admitted to the hospital. A cart in the waiting room went by me with some nice sandwiches, and I chose one. Before I could try to pay, the cart moved on. Sandwich also free.
Midterm candidates are talking up Medicare for All, and in a poll 2 out of 3 Americans said they support it. The phrase speaks to a desire for radical change, though many don't really know what it is. n.pr/4j8TVAE
Shouldn't the Democrats have something like an Elon Donations Tracker posted on all of their websites and social media? Make this SALIENT? Might it make sense to point out repeatedly that he is a white supremacist and ask the public why he would be backing the GOP?
In the last 24 hours, Elon added $5,423,645.66. New totals include: $13,131,789.48 vs @jamestalarico.bsky.social $6,308,848.86 vs @sherrodbrownoh.bsky.social $5,117,111.82 vs @abdulelsayed.bsky.social $1,991,872.98 vs @joshturek4iowa.bsky.social $1,176,301.42 vs @troyjackson207.bsky.social
imagine if the mainstream media covered Republicans' number one donor — the biggest political donor in US history! — and his controversial views with as much scrutiny as they covered Hasan Piker's
Since 👇 post 9 days ago, Elon has spent almost $11 million more, over a million bucks a day. In the Senate races alone, he's spent: $8.7m in Texas $4.5m in Ohio $4m in Michigan
h/t to @slack2thefuture.bsky.social for letting me know you can delete the "customer personalization" data in your Amazon account and enter anything you want. Like this.
Launched in May, “the page uses data from customers’ activity to generate details about them in categories like Product Preferences, Interests & Hobbies, and Home & Family, which Amazon then uses to personalize users’ product experiences.”
The radical change of saying you'll do very obvious things that people desperately want and desperately need.

It's why super broad upzoning eliminates corruption. Developers LOVE Nimbys because they keep all the competitors out of the market. When home building is liberalized, shit starts getting scary.
corrupt big developer is mad about neighborhood rezonings that will enable more affordable housing development and more small builders to enter the market. tremendous messaging gift
Cities are terrific. It's why most people want to live in them.
Tonight at #A2Council I think we will hear some very nasty accusations. My unsolicited advice for local advocacy groups: Demonizing your opponents by claiming they are corrupt and hate democracy can fire up your base, but it also damages your credibility and reputation.
This letter from State Representative Jason Morgan is profoundly disappointing. Ann Arbor has committed again and again to Vision Zero, and our staff work hard to design safe infrastructure. This attempt to undermine that effort is embarrassing. #A2Council a2gov.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=...

I live in @reprheingans.bsky.social's district, but I've also supported @jasonmorganmi.bsky.social. Jason, why are you doing NIMBY FUD on road safety improvements? This is disappointing. And exhausting. I'm not your constituent, but we live in the same community. Do better, man. #a2council
There are new and specific numbers in this story, so it’s worth reading. I continue to resent the lack of credit to Nick Schwellenbach at @pogo.org, Dan Friedman at @motherjones.com, and me, who have previously reported every other aspect of this story, including that the sale prices were very high.
You know how immigrants need to pass a test on US history if they want to become citizens? Maybe we need a US history test for people who wish to become representatives.
Historians: What the fuck are you talking about, you insane clown?
