Lawyer (not yours); Trans (not Atlantic); Stupid (not untrue).

Talking to my partner about how Sayville is like a place out of a Lovecraft novel, and he asks me how so. So I go into a couple things and then he just looks at me dead pan and goes "Oh, and the end of summer boat burning, yeah?" And I'm like "THE WHAT!?"

This is why I think it’s important to highlight how the status quo everyday background banal white supremacy is critical to building support for the more spectacular version everyone openly detests as “gutter” racism.

This is concerning for a zillion reasons but, a dispensary in Michigan went viral for blocking a Flock camera in its parking lot designed to create a record of every car that goes there. Easy to imagine this being used in abortion, gender affirming care cases

It is not difficult to imagine police in one state using Flock to track a resident of their state cross state lines to, for example, obtain an abortion that is legal in one state but not in another. Last year, 404 Media reported on police in Texas who searched more than 80,000 cameras across Flock’s nationwide network for a woman who had a self-administered abortion.

The case is also particularly concerning considering that Flock cameras have popped up outside of weed dispensaries in Michigan. The JARS Cannabis dispensary in Madison Heights, Michigan, went viral this week for putting a “No Flock Zone” sign in front of a Flock camera in the dispensary’s parking lot. “We share our community’s concerns about increased surveillance, which is why we placed the No Flock Zone sign in front of the camera to block its ability to record,” the dispensary said in a public statement. “JARS does not control the camera or have access to any of the data it collects … after we installed our No Flock Zone sign, the city issued a demand letter warning of sanctions if we did not remove it within 48 hours.” But that Flock camera exists specifically to monitor the license plates of people who come and go to the dispensary. It was required by Madison Heights as one of the conditions for giving a dispensary license to JARS: “[The dispensary] must place a FLOCK license plate scanning camera system at the entrance of the customer parking lot prior to commencement of retail sales, and it will give the Madison Heights Police Department unhindered live access to the FLOCK camera, camera footage, and any and all data, which must remain operational at all times.”

Not many people know this but in the early 2010s cryptocurrency developers came up with versions of it that weren't environmentally destructive and nobody switched to them cause crypto bros were all "I don't wanna" Anyway now you understand why they're not putting solar panels on AI datacenters

I mean this sincerely: I think pro Israel people really need to begin internalizing that this is not a fringe opinion anymore and in fact is very statistically likely to be the average view of any brown Democratic candidate for office or any candidate under the age of 50

Just now on @Morning_Joe:
@AbdulElSayed was asked by @WillieGeist whether his critique of Israel is about @netanyahu or Israel itself. He made it clear his problem is with Israel. Lots of references to
"apartheid" and "genocide" that
"pre-date" BiBi.

This is not going to go away. It is not fringe. It is not even really all that radical. It's much closer to the facts than the mind numbing pablum about two states that every Democrat over the age of 900 uses to avoid saying anything of substance.

that post that was like "if you're cis my pronoun is she if you're trans my pronoun is it and if you're mad at me my pronoun is they" was the realest thing in the world

People who are kind don't need to be told to be kind. People who are not kind will not be kind, no matter what you tell them to do. Don't waste your life.

If SCREEN were to pass, you'd be required to scan your face and upload an ID to access this site because it allows "harmful" material. This affects you even if you don't care about sex work or porn.

Mike Lee's SCREEN Act, which heads to Senate Commerce Committee for markup on Wednesday, would expand age verification requirements to a nearly limitless scope of websites, and is supported by the architects of Project 2025.

obviously this is islamophobia, but it's also the liberal framing of american empire as always being reactive. none of our actions ever have consequences and no one ever has valid historical reasons to be hostile towards america

25 years after the tired American cliche of “why do they hate us,” helped instigate two forever wars (Afghanistan + Iraq), this is how @nytimes.com chooses to explain Iran’s political system:

Screenshot of text extract from NY Times article: “But in a political system premised on hatred of the United States, none show interest in a larger reconciliation with the United States.”
