Higher education has been hemming & hawing about how to earn the public's trust and I must say, capitulating to the Trump administration on behalf of all institutions without a broader discussion, facilitated by Koch-brothers-supported AEI, is a hell of a way to DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF BUILD TRUST.

Yep. Earlier this year I was interviewed by Sharyn Alfonsi of 60 Minutes about my Epstein investigation. Subsequently, CBS pulled the segment and fired the reporter. The MAGA buyout of media is aiding the Trump administration’s Epstein cover up.
Banks permitted millions in suspicious transactions tied to Epstein—and former 60 Minutes correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi had the story months ago. But the report would never air. trib.al/ZShZlIS
Scouring social media, are they? Well, scour this: I believe that ICE are a bunch of lawless bastards whose actions are helping destroy the fabric of this country. The agency should be abolished and the perpetrators should be prosecuted. Clear enough?
“In recent months, ICE has deployed a round-the-clock digital dragnet to scour the public internet—from Facebook to Instagram to X—for speech that could endanger the agency’s mission.” Speech. www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
Bombshell report from the Wall Street Journal: DHS has been tracking down Americans at work and on the road who are critical of immigration policies, spending millions on contractors to surveil First Amendment protected speech and create political dossiers. Outrageous. www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
How ICE Is Weaponizing Social Media Against Its Critics
The agency says its surveillance program searches for threats to agents, but critics see free-speech infringements.

The reliance on AAU and the Yale/Vanderbilt reports shows that the administration (or at least McMahon) still cares about the imprimatur of academic support for policies most academics oppose. They are also pushing this now because they know such policies won't be tenable in 2028.
the department of education today issued a 'national call to action' - which, in plain english, is a call for capitulation to trump administration's assault on higher ed. www.ed.gov/media/docume... note how this doc deploys recent yale & vanderbilt reports
Word to the wise: any president or board that responds to this letter without formally consulting their faculty and staff through established governance bodies and after a public comment period is abdicating their fiduciary responsibility. #MakeSharedGovernanceMatterMore www.ed.gov/media/docume...

Global production of watermelon is between 100-200 million tons/year. This red sweet treat has very deep roots, but it's unclear when it was domesticated to the form we know. A new clue comes from an unlikely place: a 3500 year old Egyptian mummy, combined with some very lucky DNA sequencing.🍉🧪
Cute Cat Eating Watermelon
Alt: Cute Cat Eating Watermelon. It's a viral meme, so I don't know the attribution, but a grey tabby cat with a nice round face take big chomps out of a red watermelon held in a human hand. Cats can't sense the sugar, but may enjoy the water and texture, but should get only a tiny amount to avoid stomach upset.

This kind of harassment is not accidental. There are no consequences for the perpetrators. There is no restorative justice for the victims. Defund and abolish ICE. It's un-American.

Delightful sounds of the Australian magpies they have a to say! Two adults, and a juvenile. Australian magpies are remarkably bold around humans because they are highly intelligent, highly adaptable, and frequently live in close suburban contact with people.
The lab theory is v hard to reconcile w/evidence: So, two (2 lineages initially) infected WIV researchers didn't infect anyone in their community or around WIV (invisible masks?). They went to the market to pet (?) mammals, left traces of SARS2, coughed on people. Then put invisible? masks back on.
I still don't understand the purpose of this conspiracy theory exactly. Why would everyone be trying to cover up that the virus (which was clearly not bioengineered) was loosed through a lab leak as opposed to spread in wet markets?

“The report assiduously ignores that a symbiotic, profitable relationship between the federal government, universities, and private companies already exists. Each federal research dollar generates about $1.50 to $3.00 in long-term economic benefits.“ 🧪
New in PN: The new "science golden age" looks suspiciously like a grift "It’s impossible not to wonder whether part of Trump’s loathing for universities is that there's no way for him to corrupt the process and make money off it in the same way he can by giving billions to Silicon Valley types."
“Trump has rejected disaster aid for Democratic-run states at the highest rate in the 47-year history of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.” Right now people in blue states are basically paying federal taxes as if they’re colonized territories of red states. www.politico.com/news/2026/03...
