FWIW, Meta was fully aware of how these glasses would primarily be used. The glasses were designed to erase consent, and that is why they exist. Anything that they do that suggests they want to ameliorate this use is an attempt to win the PR battle and manipulate public opinion.

I actually think the trillionaire saying his AI tool will remake a movie without the Black and trans actors in it should be a bigger story because it’s a perfect example of why the ruling class wants AI to succeed: so they can remake reality without those they deem undesirable - every nazi’s dream.

a lot of cis people are really happy to immediately refer to nonbinary people as our assigned genders the instant we piss you off or have a take you consider to be bad and I mean, that's INCREDIBLY fucking telling of your overall levels of respect for trans people tbh

Nobody disputes that having access to a car in a car-dominated society is good. It gives one access to jobs, healthcare, food, education, social opportunities and more. All we're asking is for people to go one step deeper and ask why access to such basic rights requires buying and operating a car.

I grew up in Jackson Heights in Queens and we still had a car, and our lives got measurably better when we did.

One of the many ways we've gotten in the wayback machine on conversations about fatness: straight size people think once again that they are the primary targets of anti-fatness. Those objections to the anti-fatness they feel comes wrapped up in profound anti-fatness against plus size people.

Carrie in the book is fat, has acne, her clothes aren’t just outdated but also ugly and worn, and she’s plain. And yet here we are with yet another adaptation where she’s thin and conventionally beautiful and they don’t even want to dress her in horrible clothes.

It’s kind of amusing the amount of money they are spending trying to make us think surveillance specs are cool and meanwhile a bunch of celebs are just like “hey these things fucking suck.”

Amazing resource! I said YESTERDAY that I needed something fat-friendly to which their immediate response was “you’re not fat, you’re beautiful!” I was just like “i never said I wasn’t hot.” We absolutely gotta push back on well-meaning fatphobic comments along with insults!
