In case you're wondering "does mentioning a book on bluesky get people to buy it?", I just ordered this book from my local independent bookstore. Also once this comes in I'll own three books on the history of light pollution, a topic I've thought about a lot since I first moved to Toronto.

Friday night on Wards Island there was a joyous celebration of the win, with Mayor Chow leading a chant of "NO JETS!" before we paraded and later burned a jet effigy on the beach while paper mache Doug Ford and his cronies seethed. "Fight or Flight" by Shadowland Theatre, celebrating its 39th year.

Like all Canadian government surveys on AI, this is hilariously pro-AI. But it only takes like 5 minutes to fill out, and at the end you can make it clear that the only focus of the government when it comes to AI and culture is that Canadian artists need copyright protections from AI scraping.

Canadian arts and culture folks: the federal government has launched a (methodologically flawed) survey on "the Cultural Sector's readiness for Artificial Intelligence". If you're ready to resist or refuse genAI, here's your chance to let them know. pch.research-recherche.ca/f/s.aspx?lan...

We're so close to getting Elise to her new fundraising goal, friends! With the exchange rate what I thought was enough to get her over the line was short (I am bad at math) but $44 USD would make her life a bit easier and keep her kitties in rabies shots! <3 <3 <3

My favourite part about bluesky is the pictures of birds but my second favourite is that my feed is filled with classicists and archaeologist who have been itching to share their knowledge about really really dead people and now I get to read it over coffee. 😍😍😍😍😍
