In my experience with watching these journeys (my own isn't from tech booster of course) recognition of the journey is just the 1st step to recovery: Not being a booster is step 0, zooming out to see the process step 1, and reading more women & people of colour and fewer white guys a lifestyle.

I remember when a Canadian court ruled that Air Canada's chatbot was a representative of the company (so the company had to honor commitments it had made) and they yanked it immediately.

Today I saw the new 4 hour documentary Musk, directed by Alex Gibney. There were too many times to count that a sold out theater burst out laughing at Elon Musk, something he said or did, even sometimes just how he looked. I believe that is his worst nightmare come to life.

Because they don't actually read academic work (every accusation is a confession), they just literally can only divert to name calling and bullying. I especially have noticed a group of pseudo AI critical people who enjoy trying to dogpile women in science only to realise we can just block them.

These people are cranky to the core. On top of despising actual academics and knowledge production, they have a severe attachment to terrible models of the world where they sketch out totally unhinged understandings of what people they disagree with claim and think.

One of my long-standing complaints with the pro-AI world is how their complaint that anti-AI people and the left "need better critics" is clearly a reflection of themselves not having read the actual critical work on AI, and instead repeating social media memes as a strawman for actual critique.
