I once knew a guy in high school whose nemesis worked at a pizza parlor. One day he walked in with a sack of quarters, put them all in the juke box, cued up Alice’s Restaurant as many times as he could, and did the one thing his nemesis couldn’t: left.

*standing up on the plane* This song is called Alice's Restaurant, and it's about Alice, and the restaurant, but Alice's Restaurant is not the name of the restaurant, that's just the name of the song, and that's why I called the song Alice's Restaurant.

Get my book from a library! I was broke for decades. For more than half of my life, nearly all of my access to literature was thanks to having a library card. Feel no more shame in using yours than you would heap upon me. Libraries kick ass.

People are always so apologetic about getting our books from the library. And I'm just like, beyond just their massive civilizational utility, libraries are the best advertising an author could possibly hope for
