"We're getting spending under control so stop crying and just grow up" - Christopher Luxon. The same Christopher Luxon that just agreed to spend $140,000,000 per km to build a new 26km road that will save 10mins per journey while also claiming there's no money to pay nurses or teachers. #nzpol

Is any journalist pointing out that this is *not* a Northland expressway? Te Hana is firmly within Auckland Council (although the local residents probably don't realise it given the lack of expenditure in the area from the Auckland CBD council). At best if may link to a future Northland expressway

Analysis: A multi-billion-dollar public-private partnership will build the most expensive road ever built in NZ but low benefit-cost ratios raise questions over value.

1989: Margaret Thatcher, "Water privatisation I believe will go very successfully indeed. It will go very successfully indeed" 2026: BBC News, "Both terminals at the UK's second busiest airport, Gatwick, are without running water.. Toilets can't be flushed"

Great to see that National support 30 weeks Paid Parental Leave. Especially after they voted against the introduction of PPL. Blocked the extension to 26 weeks for several years. Canceled 33 pay equity claims. And just this year, cut Best Start payments for the majority of new parents.

Story paywalled, but key point: People are quibbling re the Greens’ proposed super-rich tax: will it capture 56% of currently untaxed wealth—or as much as 72%? Honestly, either would be great? A policy that achieves roughly 2/3 of what it aims for sounds amazing! www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/...

The hundred-million-dollar question: Greens hit out at Treasury's wealth tax analysis

Greens want a 'super-rich tax' and say Treasury is out of step with overseas evidence.

The similarities between Trump and Luxon. NZ weakened fuel efficiency standards for imported cars, and weakened the methane reduction targets for agribusiness while stopping their entry into the ETS

Today, like everyday, was a perfect day to stand up for nature ✊️🌏 Shoutout to the @makenoisefornature crew who organised hundreds of kiwis (just a few snapped here!) to march to parliament today. Welcome to the NZ First manosphere: now featuring the undead

OPINION: The joke is on the resurrected candidates chasing Parliament’s spotlight. As a NZ First backbencher, your job is to be embalmed and keep the caucus seats warm.

The heatwave in Europe is so extreme, it's 25–32°F (14–18°C) above normal. You read that right. France recorded it's hottest day ever. The UK had its hottest ever June day. The ground is exceeding 122°F (50°C). People are dying. Tell me again why we shouldn't talk about climate change???

We've recently published a report on the state of gender equity in trades in Aotearoa - it's not good.  The good news is Cahoots is working hard to make real change in this space.  We're launching our strategy on 3rd July, read more at docs.cahoots.nz
