it's hard to explain to the younger generation how meaningful The Rocky Horror Picture Show was, in spite of its uhhhhh very muddled gender politics. the idea that sex/gender/gender performance could be, like, fun? not a punishment? was brand fucking new to me when I watched it at seventeen.
