Today is a “chip away at small tasks day”—the phone calls and small admin tasks that take no time on their own but pile up into little mountains. I am experiencing a strange and unusual sense of accomplishment after having done (checks list) three. Go, me.
The architecture of anti-trans panic is built, in part, by parents who refuse to accept their kids as trans and then become anti-trans pundits. Wrote about this phenomenon via a profile of Renton Sinclair, the trans son of an anti-trans influencer www.huffpost.com/entry/trans-...
He’s The Trans Son Of An Anti-Trans Influencer. It’s His Turn To Speak.
Renton Sinclair’s mother is a former Miss Illinois who wants to force trans people out of public life. That’s exactly what makes her a rising star in MAGA World.

Introduce yourself as what almost killed you. Hi, I’m childbirth!
Introduce yourself as what almost killed you. Hi, I may be my appendix or my prostate or the stairs in this house.
This is the bare truth. Every second of this. This idea needs to break through to the mainstream, and I'm not sure it will; propaganda is extremely difficult to be heard over. But if it did, well, that would be a very good thing.
Normally I just appreciatively read @jamellebouie.net 's columns-sharable video content just isn't my bag. But this is a very, very, very trenchant piece of commentary that captures a lot of how I increasingly understand the disjunction between the commentary environment and on-the-ground politics.
A number of years ago, I was asked to proofread some hiking guides for @gooselane.bsky.social. It was fascinating, detailed work, and I dove deep into the myriad details, checking maps, coordinates, and online sources to ensure users got from A to B, and back again, safely. 1/?
We are finally cleaning out my in-laws’ old house, now that they are gone and it is both fascinating (wedding dress and all its accessories) and perplexing (who needs that many toothbrushes?). They threw almost nothing out, so you never know if that drawer contains garbage or time capsule treasure.

Younger son and I are alone tonight for dinner and decided to order the spicy kashari (layered rice, lentils, pasta, tomato sauce, and caramelized onions with garlic dakka dressing) from Papyrus, our local Egyptian street food place. We are making Good Decisions. (No photos, because we were wolves.)
I was wondering where the house centipedes have been, as I haven’t seen one in a while. Reports from the kitchen tonight are that there is one still here and he’s a big boy, so that’s that question answered. Hail Bob, last house centipede standing?

Many cooking posts are just bad ideas. But, sometimes, they’re breathtakingly awful and hilarious (like the Gatorade casserole). And sometimes there’s a bit of weird genius. All I really know is this guy knows what he is doing, and is an agent of pure chaos.
