My main PhD paper is finally out! 🎉 After ~5 years, it’s published today in 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘐𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺. @natimmunol.nature.com It all started with an unexpected observation 🔍: 👉 Mice lacking the dendritic cell receptor DNGR-1 developed tumours earlier ⏩ and more frequently 📈 than wild-type mice. 1/11 🧵

Today, we see the fruit of 5+ years of teamwork. We have built a map of the neutrophil compartment (mostly in mice - but also humans). It provides a biological structure that focuses on a single immune cell lineage to discover the many ways in which neutrophils "interpret" physiology.

I’m thrilled to introduce you to the NeuMap! our latest work in@nature.com. A global, comprehensive, single-cell transcriptional atlas of neutrophils across 47 biological conditions in human and mice. A real tour de force www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Immunotherapy researcher Miriam Merad from Icahn Mount Sinai says the reason that cancer research has slowed is because of funding issues, which is something taxpayers don’t have to accept. “We fight for patients, we fight for science, and we have to fight for progress.” #STATSummit
