one great thing about this whole conversation is that no one has made an accusation of literally anything specific

these people are too empty and too stupid and too violent to even know how to pretend to be decent. it's really something. it's almost enough to make you question the idea that all people have innate worth and dignity. so many reprehensible ciphers strutting and preening up there
One Week To Groyperdammerung.
You're what's wrong with the party dude. We got the Secretary of HHS saying "ARABS ARE WORTHLESS" into a mic and we got Drunk Pete bombing schools. Are you outside your damn mind
Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…
Lot of folks (self included) expressing despair that despite aggressive prosecuting fascists ("doing everything right") Brazil was still going to get Bolsonaro-ed and the fact this guy gtfo-ed as quickly as he did should be a big signal for the AOC DOJ to go *hard* in 2029.
Aw nuts *BOLSONARO EN ROUTE TO THE US, FOLHA REPORTS CITING ALLIES
Hahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahaahahahahahaha
Ideal scenario is Palestinian parties get 20 seats and no government is formed and a new election is called
i think. like ok if i ever fucked up so bad my eighth grade teacher posted up on a street corner to literally picket my behavior. i mean i would simply kill myself like that’s all there is to it
You have to really, really, really fucking suck for your 8th grade teacher to come out and shame you like this. Damn.
The increasingly decadent global oligarchy seriously believes in Triumph of the Will, aka the Power of Positive Thinking, aka Prosperity Gospel, aka magick. It works in the same way Wile E. Coyote can defy gravity until he looks down.
"In 2019, as Sam Altman was leaving his role leading the tech incubator Y Combinator to become CEO of OpenAI, he wrote a blog post extolling the virtue in founders with “too much self belief … almost to the point of delusion.” We need to ask why we as a society keep getting got, and how to stop.
I think we underestimate the appeal of antigambling politics because every problem gambler is surrounded by 3-10 people who are absolutely sick of their shit.
Lula won in part by banning online gambling

The legal environment our corrupt Supreme Court has created for this man is that he can do no wrong. But the political truth is that he can do no right. He has made himself illegitimate. That he remains in office despite this isn't evidence to the contrary, it's evidence of systemic political rot
This man started his term by selling control of the federal government to his richest donor. He then spent the remainder of his time wiping his ass with-never mind the constitution--the declaration of independence. There's no such thing as legitimate official acts from him as far as I'm concerned
I just don't care about any ~law enforcement~ story coming out of this administration because the idea of this man enforcing laws is preposterous on its face. We're talking about an arsonist doing fire code inspections. You're a sucker if you engage with any of it in good faith
Love to Julia of @pillowfort.social for what I know is the hardest decision she's ever had to make. She did amazing for a very long time at a job that gets harder every year. www.pillowfort.social/posts/8413273

I’m terribly sorry to bring this news to you. This is, genuinely, the hardest decision I have ever made in my life, and I have put off doing it for as long as I could. While we did have many people re...

appears that hegseth impulsively blurted this out to look tough, but had not discussed it with others prior, causing admin to scramble. he did not think through the consequences of livestreaming. these do not seem like good qualities for someone making war-related decisions.
Breaking news: Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will not be executed on a live-stream, President Trump said. “Many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die,” Trump said.

all of us just watched these university admins wield enormous power against palestinian student orgs, including unaffiliated ones, so these excuses land flatter than ever

i do unironically think people that are cosmopolitan need sorta paradoxically be more chauvinist about it tbh. places and people that are cosmopolitan in outlook are better than places that are provincially minded. the kind of performative handwringing about not being 'authentic' is bad and weak.
love it when anarchists say this because most "local community" councils irl in places like new england or small rural towns are typically deeply *right wing* and hate immigrants and queer people despite representing a "broad swathe" of the entire population. leftism is supposed to be COSMOPOLITAN.

We should not pander to these voters. If they want to vote for the fascist party or sit out because their comfort foreign ethnonationalist state is no longer acceptable, then good riddance.
Yes, of course McDonald’s posting about National Coming Out Day is “performative.” Nobody thinks Ronald McDonald threw the first brick at Stonewall. Nonetheless, the biggest and most influential institutions in American life performing affirmation of LGBT social and civil equality is a good thing.
That's nice and all, but much of this is performative, *especially* when corporations are cowed by shareholders and anti-LGBT+ activists. The likes of Costco who gave anti-DEI activists the middle finger should be celebrated because they stand for diversity even in the face of shouty assholes.
