the el-sayed win shows yet again that centrists are now everything they always claim the left is when it comes to israel: ideologically rigid, in hock to extremists, mistaking online beefs (ie hasan) for mass politics—and toxic to the electorate.

Scott L Greer@scottlgreer.bsky.social · 5d agoI’m proud of this paper (as awareness of disparities spread, Republicans eased up on public health measures- but Democrats focused a lot of energy on reducing disparities, so real divergence). Also nice to have a random pharma salesman summarize the whole issue in the epigram at the top.
this is not worth getting mad over, but I think making Medicare For All (as the left has done so far) the main coalition upon which we can organize good health around is a better idea

I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.
They think they're being clever eugenicists by saying that people with "underlying health issues" don't matter, but >75% of U.S. adults have a chronic condition (including 60% of age 18–34). So what they're really saying is "nobody matters, it's okay if everybody dies from inadequate regulation."

"My name is Eric Adams," he begins, as the boos begin to rain down. "You belong in prison!" one attendee shouts.
I saw far too many K-12 teachers say really monstrous and despicable things about why child care providers should have to die but not them during the pandemic that changed my perception of them forever so that's why I am not saying much about this whole discourse.
the other factor in play here is that the WNBA is big business now, and even the bench players should be paid enough so that “5th place terf loser crybaby tv commentariat” is not a viable additional income stream for them
So we should frame the COVID-19 response for what it is: a profound success of public health professionals in the face of overwhelming opposition, an absolute failure of our broader communities to extend compassion to its members, and a sign of the general orientation of our culture.
I'm not going to be relitigating COVID lockdowns or mask mandates. Both were necessary measures that saved lives. If you cannot accept the curtailing of even the minor of freedoms in the name of public safety, you have demonstrated that you do not give a solitary fuck about the rest of us.
it's funny because universal child care is being led by New Mexico and picking up major energy in Minnesota and Wisconsin but you know she'd dismiss it as coastal. it's all obfuscation no substance.

It's one of her canned lines that she uses in her eventual attempt to run for president.
the thing about baby bangs is that you don't know if they were the wrong move until it's too late. i know i can do normal bangs. but can i do baby ones?

People potentially subject to the nyc pied-à-terre tax are being treated with 1% of the administrative hostility of SNAP and Medicaid applicants, and they’re throwing 100x the fit
there's research showing that voters who view Congress as a problem see their own representatives as the exception. I think if you're doing electoral advocacy, your most important responsibility for the next two years is showing exactly why that is not the case.
