Beautiful work (Petrungaro, Bollenbach lab) on evo trajectories toward abx resistance (E. coli). Goes beyond many other studies in its attention to the experimental setup (identical selective pressure across all lines). I strongly recommend reading the entire paper! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Function-specific epistasis shapes evolutionary trajectories towards antibiotic resistance - Nature Communications

Antibiotic resistance can evolve through the combination of factors but the predictability of this is unclear. Here, the authors used high-throughput evolution experiments to reveal that antibiotic re...

Holiday in the climate emergency. No that’s not AI or edited, just a snapshot I just took with my phone on Lacanau beach in France. What future will this boy grow up in? It is in our hands, but time is running out.

Glad to have contributed to this project on something often overlooked in toxicology: combination effects. Gut bacteria face many compounds at once. We found >100 interactions between sweeteners and co-consumed compounds, with consequences in bacteria physiology and genetic targets. Check it out:

This is possibly the best thing I have read on Bluesky since I joined a few years ago. It is that on-point. What we are observing isn't "polarization", it's "radicalization". This can be applied not just to politics, but also many other things in the public discourse - COVID being one close to me.

Petter Törnberg@pettertornberg.com · 4w ago

‘Polarization’ has become the master concept for diagnosing our current democratic crisis. But this is not polarization. It is the radicalization of the political right. By misdiagnosing it, we risk becoming complicit in the crisis. 🧵 Just out in Perspectives on Politics doi.org/10.1017/S153...
