Just tried this and it only bloody works. As Simon says, life changing.
A thing that I have learned that has changed my life: microwaving a clove of garlic for 5 seconds means that skin basically falls off.
This is actually an incredibly listen! When I Want You ceases suddenly and the first thing voice you hear clearly is - Yoko's!
Badenoch represents double-down conservatism. Never apologise or moderate. Insult your opponents. Patronise journalists when challenged. Contradict yourself, lie, whatever it takes, but never back down. And that's how you end up creating an extremely avoidable Tory antisemitism scandal overnight
I saw @andrewmale.bsky.social ‘s review for Primal Scream’s “Vanishing Point” from Select magazine posted online yesterday. It took me right back to reading it at 6th form college - how the words on the page enthralled, and made perfect sense when I first listened to the album.
Leaders of flag-raising group Raise the Colours Oxfordshire placed trackers on highway workers’ cars to find out their home addresses, the High Court has heard. RTC then attempted to intimidate the highway staff into no longer removing flags by repeating their addresses to them.
Stop calling me an amateur. I've been doing this for decades. I'm incompetent.
Bede's World! Bede's World! Party time! Venerable!
Fitting to spend today hoping for rain. Truly one of the great short stories (any genre). And from today's point of view it's striking how Bradbury really nailed the chirruping inanity of the automated systems.
“Today is August 4, 2026, the city of Allendale, California.” "There Will Come Soft Rains" by Ray Bradbury.
The state of this. A lovely day out for Badenoch and Philp, playing dress up and making pronouncements about early release schemes - having left the country with one hundred available men's prison places, after fourteen years in charge. You read that right. One hundred places.
Anyone who survived Corbyn's 'leadership' of Labour will recognise the hard left playbook. It's all here. The enemy within. Secret factions. The 'populist project'. They've no interest in making the compromises needed to govern the country, only running the organism they've infected.
A party that was actually anti-racist would be kicking this person out, not allowing them to run for the Governing Committee. There are many decent Greens who will be disgusted by this and I wish them all power fighting back against it. We know from experiance how hard that is.
SCENE: A man runs panicking from a murder scene. He knows he is the murderer's next victim. He runs to a phone box to call the police and leave the clue that will catch his killer. He flings open the door -
If you don’t follow (and pay for!) Dave’s excellent London journalism you’re missing out on trenchant analysis of weak councils, single-issue campaigners, and the battalions of London-haters who are happy to receive our surplus income. Subscribe!
For a less GB-News-of the-Left account of the data centre consent (which isn't actually in Brick Lane itself) and the three other applications determined by the government, see this by me from last week: davehillonlondon.substack.com/p/government... #london #guardian.
Typically terrible coverage from @theguardian.com, simply taking dictation from campaign groups of doubtful credibility. The scheme isn't a housing development and the reason it ended up with Rayner is that a "left-wing" London council didn't do its job: www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026... #london

Campaigners decry Angela Rayner’s backing for Brick Lane project that has only 11 affordable homes

If I had very strong views on one subject, I would not post a glowing tribute to someone who shared my views on that one subject - no matter how important it was to me - if simultaneously it was very clear that they were an excruciatingly unpleasant individual in many other areas.
No, Lewis Goodall, schools weren't all shut during lockdown. My daughter had to work at her school throughout lockdown, because like many many others it had to remain open to accommodate key workers' children, you clueless warbling dick.
I am perhaps alone in my belief that the UK has a written constitution. It just requires hypertext and was mostly written before anyone invented that
If I don't have anything on, I'll sometimes buy a day ticket for the local buses and ride around on them for fun. It's weirdly exciting not knowing where you'll end up going
One reason why inter-railing in Italy is such a delight is it is so hard to eat badly. For good and for ill, the meals I think about the most are in London, New York, Paris, but Italy is the master for “I had a meal in a small cafe in a tiny town/in a train carriage/a garage. It was 7/10.”
I set today’s Guardian cryptic crossword. Hopefully, it’s a fun ride: Hard rock capturing the heart of Mason Mount (5) Emma made point about cross-dresser (9,4) Show off magnificent stomach (10) www.theguardian.com/crosswords/c...

"[N]o UEFA national teams will participate in any FIFA competition for so long as these proposals remain alive, unless this proposal has been abandoned in its entirety and binding assurances have been given that FIFA will never again open its governance or competitions to private ownership."
I think the main issue might be that they’re Americans.
oh my god a Y Combinator startup called LemonLime threw a party, brought in a tattoo artist offering free tattoos, and then said they would give an immediate job interview to anyone who got a tattoo of their logo what is wrong with these people.
the four stages: 1. Allister Heath's columns are not real 2. Allister Heath's columns are not serious 3. OK, they are real and serious but it's too late to do anything about them 4. Our only hope is to find a way of adapting to Allister Heath's columns
I've discovered THE best hobby. Just pick a town, join all its local Facebook groups. Then drive there one night with a job lot of gnomes and drop them on a few doorsteps. Then sit back and watch the fireworks.
Just put some moisturiser on while hair still wet and now
