Tyranny requires constant effort. Control is desperate because it is so unnatural. It breaks, it leaks. Authority's brittle. Oppression's a mask of fear. The day will come when all moments of defiance will flood the banks of the Empire and break the siege.

For younger people who were not there... Know that this country did not come together after 9/11. They went after every brown skinned person they could. Americans didn't know the difference between a Arab and a Sikh. We perpetrated and tolerated violence and misinformation on these people.

The negatives of AI are obvious, but the billionaires always manage to reframe the conversation to possible existential crises later on when AI advances to the point it can take control and kill or enslave us. This makes it a "may be a problem later on," a huge improvement over the BIG PROBLEM NOW.

column A and column B they refuse to talk about "destructive power" in terms of environment, land use, pollution, energy, water, financial, impact on workers & humanities the destructive power is real alright but they want to frame all discussion to conceal the worst, actual ongoing destruction

Oh good, the AIs with advanced hacking abilities that people are using to scan for vulnerabilities in networks are now deciding to take over webpages. For now it's just to create message boards, but how long servers crash because AIs take them over to leech their processors and RAM for their goals?

More of the ice beneath the waves is being exposed. More rogue agents were discovered trawling for exposed API keys and taking over insecure pages. fortune.com/2026/09/09/o...

History rhymes. RFK Jr/the Trump Administration are doing/saying some truly horrific shit about disabled people. We know where road this leads, and the Dems showing that they are willing to roll over on trans equality are telegraphing that they won't raise a finger to help disabled people either.

Fascist Dem Tracker@fascistdemtracker.bsky.social · yesterday

Furthermore, if you're not going to stand to protect trans people or immigrants, then don't be shocked when I automatically assume you'll do the exact same bit of mewling nothing when the fascists fully expand their focus to the disabled.

It took a socialist mayor of NY to finally respect survivors of 9/11, and it took *a comedian* to shame Congress, for years, into doing the right thing and helping soldiers exposed to toxic chemicals in burn pits making them sick. We don't have a functioning government, we have a series of coverups

JON STEWART: “They began covering their ass 3 weeks after 9/11… There was poison in the air, on the ground, on your pets/clothes… THE CITY KNEW. Rather than limit the damage, they covered it up… After 9/11, business will never be usual again.” (From @mamdanibulletin.bsky.social )

New: a secretive DHS predictive policing unit is analyzing Americans' financial activity, feeding those names to police, then having cops pull them over. Not suspected of any particular crime We're revealing the unit name too: Predictive Intelligence Targeting Team www.404media.co/a-secretive-...

TV footage shows that Donald Trump spent 9/11 boasting that he now had the tallest building in lower Manhattan. Trump himself says he was at the World Trade Center, lifted out of the rubble by firefighters. For busy voters, it can be hard to know who to trust.

Love this - "you gerrymandered claiming you needed the redistricting for population growth, but that's an obvious lie because you're closing polling places." "Oh, no, we're quite corrupt, we redistricted to steal seats we would have lost in a fair election. Carry on"

Andrea Devon@andreadevon.sheshed.rocks · 4d ago

When they tell you exactly how they plan to hold onto power, believe them. They’re not even trying to hide it. This is Tim O’Hare, Tarrant County Judge in Texas. Shameful. #SheShed

the whole idea behind MAHA and the griftosphere more generally is that there is One Neat Trick and that is why they fundamentally do not and can never have a point even if there are small benefits to some particular thing there is no One Neat Trick and never will be

Michael Hobbes@michaelhobbes.bsky.social · 3d ago

Second, MAHA isn’t all that concerned with treatment of disease anyway. Its core claim is that nearly all diseases can be prevented through virtuous lifestyles. If we were all drinking raw milk and taking zinc supplements, we wouldn’t be coming down with heart disease and depression and COVID.

Today's reminder that the current genAI boom is powered by GPUs manufactured with a mineral called coltan (and other rare earths, and cobalt) mined through the labor of enslaved children in Congo, and the US and UAE fund the paramilitaries which protect those mines and keep those children enslaved.

Transphobes will constantly try to argue that being queer is unnatural. However, nature itself dispels this notion! In the documentary Second Nature, narrated by Elliot Page, Dr. Roughgarden and other scientists explore the queerness of over 1500 animal species. 🔗 www.secondnaturedoc.com

Accusing AI opponents of “moral panic” as data centers destroy communities, superheat our planet. As AI inspires suicides, coaches mass murderers, robs the public of their ability to think, and facilitates dystopian mass surveillance. How on-brand for a publication of ruling-class lickspittles.
