I just want to say, the fact that so many Dems are coming out and saying shitty things about trans people in the last two weeks is a case in point of what I have been working so hard to sound the alarm on. I've been so hard on each individual dem who breaks for years now. I feared this.

The thing liberals fundamentally don't understand is that trans people are losing rights they already had. We're not asking for more, we're asking not to lose what we already had for decades. Most sports leagues and the Olympics had inclusion criteria for decades without issue.

Trans people have fought and suffered and borne the brunt of the depravity of fascist excess (along with immigrants and Black people), and it looks like the most we can hope for is a decade or more fighting Democrats to restore rights we had in every state in the union as recently as 2020.

If you defend the anti-trans stances of Amy Acton, James Talarico, or Josh Turek, you need to drop the fantasy that you're a good person. You're not an ally. You're not trustworthy. You don't hate fascism. You just hate not being in charge.

None of this is to say that trans people won't vote for bad Democrats, but please, allow people the space to come to that dreadful decision rather than hectoring them as if our lives are obviously and naturally forfeit due to our self-evident inferiority to you.

If you're trying to propose to people with trans children in their lives that their lives are a worthwhile sacrifice for other Democratic priorities, consider whether you'd be convinced that your children should be sacrificed for the greater good of someone else's family.

Also: 1) They will absolutely try to include non surgical interventions in any ban. It's a wedge issue. 2) I think treating all elective surgical interventions as off limits for minors at all ages but only if they're trans is discriminatory actually.

A lot of people doing the "it's fine for a politician to say they don't support gender surgery for minors", who don't seem to know that the anti transgender movement is fighting hard to redefine "minor" SPECIFICALLY for trans people as 25 or 30 because "brains don't mature until then" nonsense

I can't tell if it's that people don't understand what it's like being told by your nominal "allies" that you and your people's lives are expendable or that they do understand and they either don't give a shit or enjoy it but it fucking Sucks lol Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

Shout out to everyone who said it was just a temporary distraction and not a central organizing principle of modern fascism.

There are already articles circulating trying to rewrite history and say America was great after 9/11 and united and thoughtful and just a reminder that that period was marked by intense and insanely racist hatred, paranoia, and a frothing desire for unhinged violence and oppression.

i don't care what the issue is, if your election opponent is running millions of dollars in ads about one single issue, you cannot, under any circumstances, say that your opponent is right about the issue.
