If we care about disability justice, one of the lowest-hanging fruits is masks in healthcare. It remains unacceptable that vulnerable patients must ask, sometimes beg, healthcare workers to mask, while also explaining to them why respirator masks are better

I donated blood for the first time yesterday and it was pretty easy and took about 45 minutes all told, what with the screening and recovery time. I know that I'm O-positive, as most people are, so that worked out. I also got a coupon for a free pint of ice cream.

If you’re able to donate blood, PLEASE do so. As an ICU nurse, I promise you that we are in dire need of blood and blood products for patients. We do whatever we can in order to avoid transfusing, but we can’t always replace lost blood with normal saline or Lactated Ringers.
