Students made their first minicomics in my intro making course - mostly standard format but this student, a first time maker(!), did something so off the charts I’m still reeling from it! & he made like 12 of them for his classmates! A paper engineering feat of flipbookery as well as killer drawing!

I think you have to try very hard to be an honest to god snob about anything these days, so the one person I see tediously clearing the bar all the time I have to respect on some level
Actors may not want to weigh in on politics but I assure you politics will be weighing in on the entertainment industry
current “do you really want to draw this scene” list — if it doesn’t check any boxes, i make sure i know why it’s there (usually vibes)
Did You Know: the entirety of KaBLam! is on Archive - archive.org/details/kabl... It's really silly and inventive, and fun to show to current-time little human kids and stuff, imo.
KaBlam! - Full Series (PMTP WEB-DL)
Airing for four seasons on Nickeldoeon, KaBlam! offers a home to a selection of animated shorts that could be best described as offbeat. The short films, which are bridged by segments featuring animat...

Huh. Reminds me of "Clockman" in a way. For me it was a regular segment on a kid's variety show called "KaBlam!" specifically, "Promethius and Bob". It was a claymation segment about an alien teaching a caveman to be civilized, aired on Nickelodeon in the mid to late 90s.
you may have noticed that animation has never been more in-demand & in the zeitgeist and yet, seemingly, never have media conglomerates been less willing to produce it. you may also notice these guys get multimillion dollar severance packages after they gut a studio. there is probably no connection
Skydance now owns Nick, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Comedy Central, and MTV, effectively ending US TV animation as we know it. Countless jobs will be lost, and fewer new shows will be created. An apocalyptic scenario for cartoons, yet it's maybe the 5th-worst thing about the Paramount-WB merger!
a lot of unfamous but working comics have been able to eke out a living in large part due to royalty checks from siriusxm's raw dog comedy channel. six months ago, sebastian maniscalco bought it and the channel now heavily features already famous comics, and the checks for smaller acts have dried up

This is so cool... So much archival Phil Tippet materials that could easily have been lost if not for someone buying it up and uploading it to Archive.org: www.avclub.com/gji-phil-tip...

Whatever one’s opinion of the death penalty in the abstract, the particulars of how it’s implemented and who it’s applied to in the US are moral abominations

Are you a cis man feeling disgusted at the news? Good. Use that. Talk to your fellow men about what you're going to do to make our industry and our world safer. And then actually do it. You may lose friends or opportunities, but a better and safer industry and world starts with you.
Alright man it’s not even that you’re incorrect but I don’t think this was why YOUR movie was bad

I felt like a freak librarian balking at the price tag my friend's bookstore was asking for Animerica issues that were, to me, an archival treasure trove.

"borzoi" really sounds like a kind of mobile suit, doesn't it?
The youngest person his pager attack killed was 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah, who had just started 4th grade. The pager was on a table when it went off and she picked it up to take to her dad. It exploded in her face and reports said it covered the room in her blood. She wanted to learn English.

this is FAR more demotivating than some left wing shitposting or podcasting critic of the democratic party can ever be
I had not seen this clip where Tammy Duckworth advises Democrats to "not impeach anybody," "get back to work" and "allow" Donald Trump to "save face" and I would just like to remind the senator from IL that the federal government took 4,000 Chicagoans and murdered a 38-year-old father last fall.
Will my love of Brad Bird’s entire* filmography override my distaste for his Lasseter apologia that probably got this movie made
First trailer for "Ray Gunn" by Brad Bird. Coming to Netflix on December 18.
I came up with some more inane bullshit for everyone to argue about!
