This man is a monster. He seeks out women survivors because he hates them. And he hates them because he hates himself. He has harassed me and other women survivors many times over the years. It must end. He should never have a job anywhere.

Ok don’t let’s get carried away but I found something genuinely good on Threads.
Today felt like the first day of fall but it was also my first melon harvest of the summer!
I am looking for someone to go or who is planning to go to the Irish National Archives in Dublin and take a photograph of some records they hold in the outrage papers. Not urgent at all, and I will pay, of course. #spéirghorm #speirgorm

At the end of Disability Pride Month, I want to reflect on the labor it takes to be a disabled person being one of a handful of people regularly covering disability. I am exhausted. But I'm also proud of what I do at @motherjones.com.
Fun fact (not) : after the 2018 Toronto attack, where a lookist (incel) militant killed 11 and injured 15, Ross Douthat penned an opinion piece where he leaned into incel propaganda and advocated for a 'fairer' distribution of women's bodies among men.
' "Ross is one of the preeminent public intellectuals in America today, a thinker of uncommon rigor and a journalist of deep empathy," Bilton said. ' So those are words that have happened. www.cbsnews.com/news/60-minu...

I spent part of Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony cowering and reaching in a bathroom at work. Women are now routinely expected to relive their worst moments in public, to an uncaring, unbelieving and hostile audience to prevent the worst sociopaths from reaching the heights of power in the US.

I think we would be better off with clean water and affordable electricity than a Google that scans information and summarizes for us.

Happy Bloomsday Eve! Assuming things work out, the feed @1904bloom.bsky.social should post quotes from Ulysses reflecting what Leopold Bloom is up to throughout the day. So feel free to follow!
Six years ago I published a book that engaged machine learning in terms of the politics of text, language & the impossibility of definitive authorship. Are any of the men writing now on LLMs, authorship, and text citing my 2020 work?…. No, reader, they are not.
A FIFA referee has spent more time in federal custody for being Somali than anybody on epstein's list for raping kids.
NEW: A lot of bad has happened to American science over the last year but nothing comes even close to what’s about to happen if we don’t speak out in opposition to the OMB rule changes and I hope @aaas-socsci.bsky.social @apsphysics.bsky.social and others will launch public campaigns about this. 🧪🔭⚛️
It's the End of American Science As We Know It
We have 45 days to express our opposition to catastrophic changes.

This is NOT false alarmism... this is an actual 5-alarm fire on science, research and innovation in the US. (In case you didn't think it could get worse... it continues to get worse). Public comment is open NOW. We need to continue to use our voices in what's left of our very broken system.

Having already seen the slowdown in reviews/awards/declines and the midstream cancellations in just one year of this ‘approach,’ and the decline in staffing, with this new level of interference funding will grind to a halt
🧵 Public science in the US has taken some heavy hits over the last year, but the White House OMB is proposing a series of changes that will result in a TKO for science as we know it unless we fight back. Here's what's happening, and why it matters. 1/n

BREAKING: Adam Hoffman has been released from jail for "good behavior." Hoffman is the Waco, TX attorney who faced life without parole for repeatedly raping a young boy, until Texas AG Ken Paxton offered him 1 day in jail and no need to register as a sex offender.
Was someone on here joking about the Frank Randall book on the final season of Outlander? I can’t find a screenshot but it’s a sans serif font and looks… self-published 😂
In 2020 @yaelrice.bsky.social and I authored this article to dispute this kind of pseudo-scientific research, which regularly gets press attention, precisely so that others don't have to cope with the tedium of refuting it. Here's the refutation you need! hyperallergic.com/how-scientis...
How Scientists Use and Abuse Portraiture
Many scientific studies assume that the features of painted faces are the facts of the flesh-and-blood countenances to which they refer. This assumption is not only false; it is preposterous.

Here we go again. Every so often tech makes an incursion into history, completely ignores that history is a rigorous discipline with a methodology, and then claims that a mystery or issue that historians have grappled with can be solved with an algorithm. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
TPUSA was promoting an anti-trans event on Juniper's campus when she was stabbed to death Sunday. I'm pretty well-informed + I only heard about this today on the "It Could Happen Here" podcast. Violence against trans and nonbinary people has skyrocketed in recent years. Media coverage is dismal.
