FWIW, both of VDARE’s founders were on the masthead of the National Review in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Peter Brimelow was also a staffer for Senator Orrin Hatch. This white nationalist thread has been present in the conservative movement for a long time. Screenshot is from 1997.

Max Miller on why he's staying in the race: "When we go back to 2015 and 2016, & people in the media looked at President Trump, & everyone came out with allegations. Dozens of women, dozens of crazy allegations, dozens of nasty criminal misconduct. And you know what he did? He stayed in the fight."
Many, many thoughts on this, starting with the idea that it is not surprising people feel that the government is much more likely to interfere or punish them for their speech because at this moment that's just objectively true.

While 72% say they felt very or mostly free 10 years ago, only 54% feel that way today. And even fewer — just 42% — expect to feel that way 10 years from now.

This is a gross misrepresentation of the COVID vaccine, why it worked, and why mutation made vaccination trickier - but still by far a huge success. COVID *DID* successfully reduce rates of infection outright - early on. The problem is that COVID mutated, at which point it waned.
It is a basic fact of life that if you're testing a safety change, you need a control group to make sure the change is not making things worse! Auuuughhhhh

And it's a gigantic problem that discourages safety innovation when the government seeks to hold you responsible for anything that happens in the control group AND anything that happens in the intervention group (as has happened elsewhere)! There's literally no way to win!
